Grayson P.O.V

"It's time."

I could feel the power coursing through my veins. I could feel the fire of the cosmos burning at my insides. Everything around me was brighter. I could see the energy running through the things that set around me.

I could feel Zain's gaze as I was trying to focus on this feeling that was running through me.

"Gray, Are you okay?" I hear his words but, they sound like they're coming from a distance. I let my head move in his direction as if I weren't in control of my actions. I nod my head in response.

"I am better than okay. I can feel the universe around me. The power that occupies my mind is something of the stars." The words seem to fall from my lips with ease.

The energy around me starts to simmer down and the power leaking from my skin starts to dissipate; Leaving a slight tingling sensation behind in its trail. Zain slowly makes his way over to me and engulfs me in a big hug. He lays his head on my shoulder and exhales slightly. I wrap my arms around his and return his head with a bit more pressure; Letting him know that everything is okay and will be okay.

I slowly back away, grabbing his hand. I lead him from the room and out of the building.

"We need to come up with a plan to find out where your mom is. I know you must be worried about her. I don't want you to stress yourself out over this." I let my steps come to a halt and look over at him. I get lost in his eyes before I come back to reality.

"We will find her. I may know of a way to get in touch with her. When I was little, I always caught her with this book. It looked very old. I knew of our family history at that point; so I could only assume that it was a grimoire." Once I finished talking, I found myself standing in front of my house, where not only days prior, I was attacked and sent to the hospital.

"The book will be in my mother's closet. At the back of it, There's a safe. I think I still remember the code. 14-53-91. I never gave her any reason to change it because I never really went into it."

We were able to get the safe open, Only to find that it was empty; except for a handwritten note with my mother's writing style.

"Grayson,

If you're reading this, it can only mean one thing. I'm in danger. Knowing myself, I would've released a ring or two that's keeping your power locked away. I need you to be careful because You may not be able to control it. I knew this would be the first place you'd look, and I can only assume it's for my book. I had to hide it elsewhere because I don't trust anyone but you. I had to put it in the bin with all your baby stuff. I'm not gonna say where that bin is in case this isn't Grayson. I am so proud of you son. You may have always doubted yourself but not i. You are growing up to be a strong young man, and I couldn't be more proud.

Love, Mom"

Without a second thought, I race up the stairs to my room. I was always adamant about keeping myself in my room. When I open the door, I run to my closet door and throw it open. I push my clothes aside to reveal a small door at the back of my closet.

Once inside the little door, I find the bin that my mother was talking about. Inside was the book that I had seen countless times. Once I have the book, I leave the room and see Zain sitting on my bed looking at a picture of Myself, Mom, and dad.

"That was one of the happiest days of my life. It was a few years before he went to prison. He took us all to Hawaii for a vacation. When we got back is when his drinking started to get worse. Both my mom and I knew he was too far gone at that point." Without saying another word, He hugged me tightly. I didn't know I was crying till he took my face in his hands and wiped my tears away. We looked into each other's eyes for a minute before he placed a soft kiss on my lips.

He was the first to pull away. "We need to finish this" I nod my head and lead the way to the basement. This room was where my mom did her practices. There were candles placed in a circle on the floor. I wanted to see if I can try something. It never hurts to try a bit of practice here and there.

I looked up at Zain and smiled. I closed my eyes in concentration and thought about what I wanted to happen. The power in my veins came to life and I could feel the energy radiating in my hands. I went to lift my hand up and flick it in the air when it happened. A wave of energy blasted out of my palm. Not only lighting the candles but also the fireplace. The room felt immediately warmer. I opened my eyes and saw him looking at me with lust in his eyes. I knew what he wanted but I also knew that this wasn't the time for it.

I walk over and stand in the middle of the circle. I open the book and without doing anything, a gust of wind blew across the pages. It landed on the page that I needed. I look it over for a few minutes and go to place the book on the altar. While doing so, I picked up a necklace that belonged to my mother.

I step back into the circle and began chanting.

"Fumea lactere yves letraie mochioa"

Nothing happened the first few times. In the last attempt, I closed my eyes and let the energy take over. I could feel the power leaking out of my skin and out of my pores. A wave of power erupted from my body and I fell to the ground. Feeling nothing but weakness and exhaustion.

I heard Zain run over to me. He slowly lifted me up on my feet. I slightly opened my eyes and saw a woman standing in the circle. Encased in bright white light, She walked towards us.

"Mom?" I managed to get out before the darkness took over. I guess this spell took more energy than I had.
