Chapter 13

*Marissa's PoV*

I feel horrible. Why did I cheat on Sam? The guy I cheated on him with was just someone that went to my old school. His name is Micah.

"Why would you cheat on me?" Micah asked as he stood up to leave.

"I don't know," I replied. "I'm sorry."

"No you're not. You know, you haven't changed at all Marissa. Everyone at school says you're a "female dog" and I'm thinking they are right," he said, only instead of saying "female dog" he actually said the word.

"Micah," I tried saying but he just walked out of my house slamming the door. It hurt when Micah walked out on me but it hurt even more when Sam did. After all, I was going out with Sam longer. But I've known Micah longer.

I flopped down on the couch and started crying.

The next day at school I sat down next to Quinn. We were just singing solos again because Mr. Schu still isn't here.

Rachel and Brittany already sang, and now it's Sam's turn. "Today I don't feel like doing anything. I just wanna lay in my bed. Don't feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone. 'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything," he sang. Everyone stood up and danced along, including me. Quinn and I were dancing beside each other and we were laughing and having a good time. She's my best friend.

After he finished, everyone clapped and cheered and sat down. Next it was my turn. "This is for Sam," I said. The music started and I started to sing. "So this is me swallowing my pride. Standing in front of you, saying i'm sorry for that night. And I go back to December all the time," I sang. When the song finished I was almost in tears. Sam had a half smile on his face. But I know he's probably not going to get back together with me.

I sat down. Quinn stood up. This is going to be the first time I hear her sing. By herself, anyway. "I'm sorry for changing. I'm sorry it had to be this way. Believe me, it's easier just to pretend. But I won't apologize for who I am," she sang. After she finished the song I was gonna ask if I could sing another song but the bell rang. I was about to walk out the door when someone grabbed my arm. I looked back and it was Sam.

"Hey," he said.

"Hi."

"Look, we need to talk."
