Chapter 5

I'm at home, and I'm having Sam over to practice for our duet. We still have to decide on a song. The doorbell rang. I walked downstairs to open the door. Sam was here.

"Hey," Sam said.

"Hey. Let's go to my room."

"Okay." We walked up to my room and started thinking of songs we could do. Then we got into this weird conversation. "How would you react if I kissed you right now?" he asked.

"I don't know. Why are you asking?" That's when he kissed me.

"That's why," he said when we released the kiss.

"Oh." I'm blushing, I just know I am.

"Marissa, will you be my girlfriend?"

I smiled. "Yes. Yes I will." He smiled. We leaned forward and then we started a make out session. It was pretty romantic. "We better start practicing," I said after we made out.

"Agreed."

The next day the duets started with Tina and Mike singing I Gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas. It's such a good song to dance to.

After their song, Puck and Lauren sang Bottoms Up by Trey Songz. "Got a couple bottles but a couple ain't enough," they both sang. In my opinion it's a good song but not for them. The next performance was Half of my Heart by John Mayer and Taylor Swift. "Half of my heart's got a grip on the situation. Half of my heart takes time," they sang.

When they were finished, it was time for mine and Sam's performance. We were the last to sing. So we got up. I stood by the piano and Sam stood by the door. We decided on singing Two is Better Than One by Boys Like Girls and Taylor Swift.

"I remember what you wore on the first day. You came into my life and I thought "Hey, you know, this could be something. Cause everything you do and words you say. You know that it all takes my breath away. And now I'm left with nothing," Sam sang.

"So maybe it's true that I can't live without you. And maybe two is better than one. But there's so much time to figure out the rest of my life. And you've already got me coming undone. And I'm thinking two is better than one," we both sang.

"I remember every look upon your face. The way you roll your eyes. The way you taste. You make it hard for breathing. Cause when I close my eyes and drift away. I think of you and everything's okay. I'm finally now believing," I sang.

Then before we knew it we finished the song. We sat down at our seats and held hands.

"Alright, well done! Let's vote!" Mr. Schu said. Everyone put their votes in a box, and then Mr. Schu looked at them all. "Okay. The winner is... Sam and Marissa! Congratulations. You win a free dinner at Breadstix." Sam and I smiled. Everyone was clapping except Rachel. She looked ticked off. I saw Finn and Quinn giving us a thumbs up. I gave them a thumbs up back and hugged Sam. "Okay, be prepared for tomorrow. We're doing more solos tomorrow," he said as the bell rang.
