Third-person POV
As he awoke from his deep sleep, Riei noticed the warmth of the sunlight tickling his cheeks and the fresh tatami fragrance wafting through the room. Almost like he was sleeping on a cloud, the ground felt like cotton to him. His clothes weren't as wet and sticky from the blood and snow as they had been before. The boy tried to open his eyes, but his eyelids seemed heavy for some reason. He wondered if he was still dreaming.
The moment his eyes opened, he was greeted by a flurry of blinding lights and the sound of people calling his name.
"Riei-sama!"
Squinting his eyes to adjust to the new surroundings, Riei first saw a floating head.
"K-Kubinashi..." The dryness in his throat was making him sound hoarse.
"Riei-sama, you've finally woken up! Quick— notify the Third immediately!" It was the blonde-haired yokai's instruction that sounded out.
'What happened?' Riei sat on the futon, clutching his throbbing head.
'Right, Ritsura and I finally escaped...' When he realised what had happened, his eyes went wide.
"Ritsura!"
It took Riei some time to come to grip with himself after leaping out of the futon and nearly landed on the wooden floor.
"Riei-sama! You still have some serious injuries, so don't push yourself too hard. Stay calm." Kubinashi snatched him before his frail body could hit the ground.
Despite the fact that his legs were wobbly, his head was the only part of his body that felt heavy. He arched his back and put his hands on Kubinashi's arms as the pain swept through him like a fire. His face was contorted and his eyes were squeezed shut. The pain Riei was feeling was unlike anything he had ever experienced before. However, it didn't matter. He'd experienced something far worse.
Shoving Kubinashi aside, the black-haired boy limped out of his room, ignoring the servants' pleas, and went straight to his sister's room.

"W-What exactly do you mean by that?" Tsurara stuttered for a moment as her gold eyes widened. Every part of her goes on pause while her thoughts catch up.
"Assuming the worst case scenario, she will never again be able to see the light of day. The Young Lady's eyes were severely damaged, but that's not all. Her 'Haku' had been deprived as well. Unfortunately, I have no idea when the Young Lady will be able to come to from her catatonic state." Zen confessed as he bowed his head in disgrace.
