Third person POV
Towa had just finished up with her Kendo After-School activities when her teammates came over to her to congratulate her on her victory in the last competition.
Towa could only let out an awkward laugh as she scratched the back of her head.
While it made her happy to receive compliments, she felt it in her heart that she was destined for something more. Even more so after discovering that she is a half-demon. Towa wondered what's her purpose in this world.
Who were her parents? Which one of them was a yokai? Where did she come from? Where is Setsuna? Is her twin sister from her past even real?
Her thoughts had been going back and forth between the questions for some time now.
Ever since that day on the rooftop, Riei has never attended the class, though she knew better that he was there lingering around the shadows of the school walls.
What was his purpose in coming to school anyway? To verify her suspicion about that night?
Towa could never tell what was going on in that head of his. Yet, the most important question that kept going through her head was:
"Am I lying to myself? What does he mean by that? I never lie to myself." Towa muttered something under her breath as she slung her bag over her shoulder and started walking down the road.
Just then, her nose contorted. A familiar scent was detected. She was so tired that she was sure her eyes were starting to roll.
In front of her were the same men as before, only this time there were more of them and Kenji was restrained by a neck collar. Towa recoiled at the thought that she shoved him to the wall so hard that night it might've broken his neck.
"Ugh... not these guys again."
She started to feel exhausted from having to deal with the same old pattern of defending herself from bullies. Even after she had severely injured them, they continued to pursue her like persistent leech. People could easily mistake them for a masochist.
"Let's get this over with." Towa heaved a sigh to herself silently.
And so it went on for a time, with Towa striking the bullies with relative ease while the choreographed dance of disaster continued.
'Will this kind of thing continue for the rest of my life?' Towa pondered this question as she landed a blow on one of the bullies.
'I don't want that!' With her hand grabbing a fistful of the bully's hair, she slammed his head to the ground.
"I... I was just doing the right thing..." Towa said as she clenched her jaw and fist tight. Her silver-haired bang covered her eyes.
"Huh?! What are you babbling about?!"
Kenji approached Towa but she simply remained there, and he began to push her shoulder back as he got closer to her. It seems like this guy had no fear at all.
Towa then grasped his finger with half her power, evoking a girlish yelp from him.
"I just saved one girl from the embarrassment, yet you guys kept picking on me over and over again!"
