Morning had arrived, which sadly meant it was time to be awake. Thoughts of that boy had left Annabeth's mind. She had other things to think about in the morning, such as nothing, she was very tired.

She had her breakfast, some granola and a glass of orange juice, before brushing her teeth, hopping in the shower, drying off, and walking over to her wardrobe.

You see, getting dressed is quite difficult when you can't see colour. Annabeth had learnt that generally light goes with dark and dark goes with light, but she still sometimes notices those colour see-ers muttering or laughing about the colouring of people's clothes.

Annabeth did consider sending a photo to Silena or Piper to get them to check, but she knew at heart it was too late and they would have probably already left their house.

Oh right! The time. Annabeth hastily pulled on her shoes, grabbed her bag, and headed out the door. Not before saying goodbye to her dad, of course.

Frederick Chase, a man who wasn't around much. In fact, he was due to leave just after Annabeth. Normally, he was gone before she woke in the morning and came back after she fell asleep at night. He worked all the time.

Her dad used to be able to see colour. That was when he was with Annabeth's mother, Athena. They had dated, gotten married and had a child, but then things turned rocky. They began to argue a lot and one day they woke up, neither one being able to see colour. That meant they knew they had changed as people. They were no longer "meant to be".

Ever since then her dad had been distant. She tried to ignore it but deep down it bothered her more than she could say.

Annabeth trudged her way down the same, old path, weaving through the same, old streets and heading to the same, old destination. She arrived at school and made her way to the entrance, like always.

To her right, she heard a voice, Piper's, calling out her name. She turned and saw her friend standing by the gates, talking to her boyfriend Jason. Piper indicated that she should come over but Annabeth was hesitant. Jason was a nice guy, she knew that, but the kind of people he speaks with are not. He is on the more popular side of the school, he speaks with people in the football team and those who don't care about grades. They were standing in a mob-like formation, being loud and rowdy in a way that made her want to stay as far away as possible.

She shook her head at Piper, hoping she would understand, before walking away. She turned her head back for one more look before she entered the building, and suddenly she had a realisation.

That boy. She had recognised him and she knew it. That's who he was. Percy Jackson.

Percy Jackson is the quarterback of the football team, the head of the swimming team and the biggest player in school. Basically, he's a massive jerk in Annabeth's eyes. Currently, he's with Rachel Elizabeth Dare and although he still can't see colour, he's always been one of those "soulmate deniers" who says things like "Oh no, they are my soulmate it must just not be working".

So she didn't see any colour. She didn't feel a spark. She just vaguely recognised him. Somehow that made her feel worse.

I mean, she'd had at least a glimmer of hope. Maybe she'd found someone? But no. She's still alone, still has no clue what to do.

The day trudged on. Each minute felt like an hour. Each hour felt like a day. She should have never had hope anyway. It was do stupid of her to get her head all wrapped up in this stupid soulmate deal. She should just put her head down and focus on school, ignoring it all. Maybe she doesn't even have a soulmate, maybe there's no point in searching.

The hours plodded on until last lesson, when Mr Brunner was assigning new lab partners in Chemistry. Annabeth didn't really know anyone in that class, she was just begging in her head to be put next to Piper. Someone she can talk to, someone she can work with.

She was pulled out of her thoughts quickly, like a fish caught on a line, when she heard her name being called. "Annabeth Chase, second row, fourth seat to the right."

She hauled her bag over her shoulder and made her way to her seat, pulled out the stool and pushed her bag under the desk. As she sat herself down she listened in to hear who would be sitting next to her. Knowing her luck, not Piper.

It wasn't Piper. "Percy Jackson, next to Miss Chase."

Could this day get worse. She was now set next to Percy Jackson, a guy who is known for not doing schoolwork, and she'd have to work with him. Great, now people are muttering. She knows that people would pay to sit next to Percy. Maybe she could turn this into a profit? No, that would be irresponsible. Unless? Well it was certainly worth consideration.

Annabeth grabbed her Chemistry book out of her bag so she could begin to take notes on what Mr Brunner was saying. The first half an hour was mostly just that, sitting, listening, taking notes. It again, trudged on. She could swear she'd never felt time go so slowly.

It felt like an eternity of scribbling down key words and methods before Mr Brunner said "Alright class, I want you now to discuss with your partner for one minute a summary of what I just explained about subatomic particles."

Percy turned towards her. Annabeth has never been good at making conversation, she always waits for someone to speak to her first. But here she was, knowing out of the corner of her eye that he was looking at her, waiting for her to say something.

She turned and took a deep breath, bracing herself. "So, there's the nucleus which is made up of protons and neutrons-"

She continued to speak about everything she took notes on. She would occasionally pause, trying to get him to say something g but he would just look at her, expectantly.

Once she had finished, she realised she was still staring at the table. God, was she such an idiot that she couldn't even make eye contact?

She looked up at him, to try and see what he's doing, he just had a vague expression on his face. They make eye contact and she quickly looks down at the desk.

"Hm, that was better that Mr Brunner explained it." He said, before looking back at his book and writing down some short notes. Annabeth wasn't sure what to think of that. Was it a compliment? No? Yes? She shouldn't care. She doesn't care. Wait, is her face going red. Oh gods. What if someone sees. Crap.

Before she had time to panic further, the class had descended into so much noise and chaos that Mr Brunner raised his voice and said, "Well if you're all talking suppose you're done. Now I want everyone to take a look at page 25 of 'Chemistry 9a' and answer the questions in their books."
