"Look at me girl and tell me one thing, does he do it, like I do it? " - Trey Songz
"What? You not happy to see me?" He said while holding ice-cream and movies.
I couldn't help but resist. He always knows just what to do to make me feel better. It feels nice to have someone with his energy around.
"Get in here neighbor." I opened the door and stepped to the side.
He laid out all the Tyler Perry movies, and sat on the counter. I went to the pantry to grab a couple of bowls.
"How did you know!?
I picked out, 'I Can Do Bad All By Myself' , which is one of the best Tyler Perry Movies hands down.
"I don't know. Just a hunch."
"Damn. Am I that easy to read?" I asked while I walked around my counter top and gave him a big hug.
"Meh." He said while shrugging his shoulders.
I quickly punched him in the shoulder. "Dick."
About an hour later, mid movie, I was crying my damn eyes out. I was laying on Que's chest. His heart beat was strong and steady.
While I was watching Taraji rethink her life, I had a question that I just couldnt shake.
"Why?" was all I could manage to get out in between my tears.
"I don't know why she treating the handyman like that Angie. Some people just don't recognize a good man when they see one. He built them a new room and everything. Her ungrateful ass." He shook his head.
I couldn't help but laugh at his interest in this movie. But like I said, it is good as fuck. But I was trying to be serious.
"No Que. Like why are you so nice to me. For real this time." I shifted so that I was closer to him. Something about his body heat calms me.
"Angelina, I told you. Your not asking the right questions mama." he said as he trailed my leg with his finger.
"No Que. Like why dont you ever ask me whats wrong?" I curled up closer to his body heat that was keeping me warm.
He took a deep breath and exhaled.
"Angelina, if you wanted to tell me you would. And I just want to be the person that you can feel safe. Not remind you of all the shit going wrong." His voice sounded genuine.
And he did make me feel safe. I just didn't understand why. But maybe he was right. I deserved to feel safe and so does Luna.
"So will you?" He picked me up and placed me on his lap so that I was facing him. I saddled his waist. Looking into his eyes he seemed so true. But I couldn't keep putting myself through this.
"Will I what Que?" I traced his lips with my finger tips. They were so full. They told me what I needed to hear. They gave me peace.
"Will you.." He kissed my fingers before finishing his sentence.
"Let me.." He pulled me closer than I ever knew bodies could go.
