As soon as the door closed something inside me dropped. I don't know what it was, hell, I don't even know why. All I know is that the feeling that I'm had I didn't like it. Something that felt familiar to me, but before I could process it, I quickly shook it off.
After getting ready for bed, I walked into Luna's room and prayed at her bedside. I tiredly walked to my room and checked my phone. I didn't have any important messages besides Sky checking in to say goodnight and Tasha asking me about food for our babysitting gig/girls' night.
I know it was only about eight o'clock but them kids know how to tire people out. I turned over to go to bed when my phone started ringing. Frustrated and exhausted, I answered the call.
Phone Call: Unknown: Good evening. May I speak to Ms. Jones.
Me: This is she.
Unknown: Hey Ms. Jones, sorry for the late call but this is Marry calling from LA Payton Incorporated and I just wanted to inform you that you are hired for the personal assistance position.
Me: Oh my goodness. Thank you so much. I cant wait to be apart of the team.
Mary: Well I know its Saturday, but you start Monday at 11:30 am sharp. All other information will be sent via email. Any other questions.
Me: Yes ma'am. I'll be there. Thank you again.
End of Phone Call
As soon as the call ended I jumped up and down and freaked out. "Thank you Jesus!!!" I finally got a high-grade job that pays more than my actual bills!
I lay on my bed catching my breath and thought about all the logistics. Mainly about who was going to watch Luna. It was still summer time and her first year was nowhere near.
Then I remembered, my best friend works at a day care not to far from here. I called Skylar and told her to come over. The fact that she is my best friend and hasn't been in my new spot is kind of messed up.
I just haven't really had the time or the head space to even begin to update her.
Within about an hour and twenty minutes, Skylar was at the door with romance movies and ice cream.
"My oh my do we have some catching up to do." She held the paper bags in her hand while shifting her weight to her opposite hip giving me the upmost sass.

"Get cha ass in here before I shut the door." I stepped to the side while tapping my food waiting for her to come on in.
She stepped in the door and nodded her head in an approval motion. Even though I lived in the hood, Skylar has always stayed in the nicer parts of town so this for her was just like seeing an upgrade.
