Walking out of the tunnel, Shirai examined his opponent. Her vine-like hair was most definitely her quirk, probably something like being able to manipulate them. If that was the case, she'd most likely be a long-range type fighter, preferring to stay away from the enemy and use her vines to attack.

Ignoring the crowd's cheers and Present Mic's commentary, he stretched a bit to loosen up his muscles and got into a simple ready stance. "Start!" the voice rang out, and immediately a bunch of vines twisted into ropes came flying at Shirai from all sides.

Quickly taking action, the Scorpion user summoned the classic two blades in his hands and slashed at every single vine coming his way, successfully stopping the attack. Not missing a beat, Shirai burst forwards towards Shiozaki, slicing through the wall of vines she created.

He managed to push the girl far enough so that she was out of bounds. As Present Mic declared Shirai the victor, he himself walked towards the girl and held out a hand.

Accepting it gratefully, the two made their way off the platform and into the tunnels.

After returning to his original spot, he realized that he'd missed the next match entirely, and the rest of the matches soon passed.

Midoriya vs. Todoroki

Masumi vs. Asagi

Ashido vs. Jiro

Kirishima vs. Bakugou

Midoriya and Todoroki's match was quite interesting, as Midoriya seemed hell-bent on getting the other to use his fire quirk. After successfully managing to coax it out of him, but at the cost of several broken fingers and limbs, Todoroki overpowered the green-haired boy and won.

Now, it was time for the match between Shirai and the girl from class 1-B, Asagi. Facing her on the platform, the first thing Shirai noticed were her eyes. The left one was a piercing electric blue, and the right one was a yellow-orange color so light that it could've passed as white without close inspection. Her hair was an unassuming brown-gray color, reaching halfway down her back.

Having no idea what her quirk was, Shirai stayed on guard. However, As soon as he looked into her eyes, everything disappeared except Asagi.

Darkness from all directions. And then, like watercolor paint bleeding on paper, color slowly started to spread out, eventually dispelling the unsettling dark. However, what it was replaced with was even worse.

He couldn't move. Apparently, neither could his opponent. They could only watch, as one of Shirai's worst memories played right in front of their eyes like they were there in the moment.

Warning: If you're squeamish, don't read the part in italics because there's some pretty graphic descriptions involving blood and death and stuff

It was sunny outside. A young boy that resembled Shirai was sitting on the swings in a park, humming a tune to himself. It was a perfect day, the warmth of the golden sunlight combined with the way it shone on the flowers made it seem almost magical.

It was too perfect.

Blood-curdling screams. Crashes. Explosions. The thundering of foreign feet on the ground, sending shockwaves everywhere.

A look of terror made itself clear on the boy's face, and he started running as fast as he could towards his home. Tripping, scrambling, but running nonetheless.

Out of breath, he made it in front of the familiar two-story house, eyes widened in horror at the sight he saw. His mother and father, both lay cold on the driveway, limbs mangled and blood pooling around them in an ever-growing puddle.
