"Come on, let's go." My boyfriend of six months was trying to get me to leave the house, but I refused. It was time for me to meet his family and I was terrified.
"I can't go I'm sick." I faked a cough trying to pretend that I wasn't feeling well.
"Jetta." Trey spoke calmly looking at me with annoyance.
"Trey," I said before faking another cough, "I'm really sick. We're going to have to cancel."
He sighed, "We've already cancelled twice we are not canceling anymore. Why don't you want to meet family?" He looked sad asking me that question and I immediately felt bad. I knew I had gone too far by the look on his face and I felt bad.
"I'm sorry," I sighed, "I'm just worried that your mom won't like me."
He chuckled, "don't worry my mom will love you. Besides my mom isn't the one you should worry about."
"What do you mean by that?" I asked.
"Time to go, babe," he laughed at my expression and didn't answer my question.

Once we had pulled up into the driveway of his parents house I immediately became nervous once again."I can't do this your mother is going to hate me," I screeched suddenly making his eyes widen in surprise by my sudden outburst.
"You will be fine don't worry," He spoke calmly.
I watched him get out of the car and walk to my side. He opened my car door, "you coming?"
I took a deep breath, "yes." I spoke unsurely of myself.
Once out of the car he grabbed my hand and we walked up to the door. Instead of knocking and giving me one last chance to prepare myself he walked into the house.
"Mama we here!" He screamed out into the empty hallway. I freaked out mentally unprepared to meet her.
A woman came into the hallway a few seconds later, "boy stop yelling." She laughed pulling him into a hug.
"And who is this pretty young thing?" His mom grinned happily looking at me.
I smiled timidly, "Hi, Mrs Burke it's nice too meet you I'm Jetta." I put my hand out for her to shake.
"Call me Ronda, sweetie." She ignored my hand and pulled me directly in for a big hug. I froze in shock before reacting and hugging her back. "She's perfect, Trey. I just know she's the one." His mom said making both of us embarrassed.
"Ma, stop. I think you're squeezing her to death." Trey spoke.
His mom pulled back from the hug smiling at me. "I'm so glad I get to finally meet you my son has been talking about you nonstop."
I looked at Trey who smiled at me in embarrassment, "has he now?"
"He sure has. He never quits talking about you. Every time we talk the conversation always leads back to you it is so cute." His mom squealed excitedly.
"You can stop now." Trey interrupted before his mom could continue on embarrassing him.
"Where are my manners? You guys can come on in lets get out this hallway." His mom led us out of the hallway and into the living room were a young girl sat watching TV.
"You been here this whole time and you can't even speak, Sasha." Trey spoke to the girl.
"Hi," she responded not even looking away from the TV.
