Ch. 3 - chanyeol

"Chan. Chan, are you listening to me?" My manager touched my head. "Are you sick? Are you okay?"

"Hyung. I'm fine. I'm just trying to work at my own pace." As a soloist artist, I only had to match my own deadline and not match up with anyone elses. "I think I have a rough draft down. Where is Producer Kim?"

"She's on her break right now. But seriously, Chan, please rest. You can't work if you don't have a rested brain."

I rested my head on the back of the chair. "I got four hours of sleep yesterday. It was more than enough. I'll sleep when I know that my comeback song is perfect."

My manager groaned. "Perfect. That's a dangerous word considering that it's coming out of your mouth."

I stretched my back and sighed. "It would also be perfect if you let me alone now and looked for Producer Kim."

My manager opened his mouth but I stopped him with my hand. Before I could open my mouth, my second manager ran into the room. "Chan! Chan!"

I groaned. "What is it now?"

"Wizard's Bae Chanyeol is dating rookie idol Joo Mia? What is this? How did the reporters get this?" She panted. "Chan! I told you to break up with her!"

"What's wrong with having a love life, noona? My fans accept it!"

She glared at me. "One fandom isn't enough when all the other fandoms are also getting riled up. This puts MusicRoad Entertainment at a rough spot, and you know how popular our idols are. Break up with her this instant!"

"Whatever noona, just ignore it."

Manger Kim shook her head. "It's not just you, Chanyeol. There are hate comments against Mia."

I sat straight up and grabbed my manager's phone. Scrolling through the list of comments, I'm sure at least half were of hate.

fluffystar ugh so ugly. how does she deserve our chan?

fashionbunny stop being so mean. mia is really pretty.

fluffystar just spitting facts. fans aren't even allowed to go near Chanyeol while that good for nothing rookie idol gets to date him. she's probably just a fake fan.

kpoplover leave iLove, mia! enough is enough! stop bothering chanyeol!

"What is this?" I asked. "What is this nonsense? Are these Magicals?"

My manager shrugged. "I don't know if they're your fandom or others. They just don't want the two of you together. And especially because Joo Mia is a rookie idol, this isn't going to end up well for iLove."

iLove is a recent rookie girl group that my company formed a couple months ago. They went out really well...and it seems their career is going down now because of a dating scandal. Mia and I met when I was instructing the group once, and we started to like each other as more than friends.

"I swear. Your career is very important, Chanyeol. You just started to reach the top. Please try to keep it that way."

"Hyung, I-"

"He's right, Chanyeol. You chose fame over love five years ago. Grow up, and face the consequences. You can't pick both and expect both to work out. Since you chose fame, keep to your decision. Don't make life harder for everyone else because you don't like what you chose."

I didn't say anything and got up. "I'm going to go see Mia."

"iLove is practicing for Go Daejeon, Chanyeol. Don't bother them."

I scoffed and turned to my managers. "Whatever. You told me to break up with her. I'll do that." As if I will.
