~The Arrival~
A cool breeze floated through the room of the sleeping girl. The breeze didn't seem to disturb her, probably because it was summer and I gets really warm, But before she could comprehend what was happening she bolted awake at the shouts of Mrs Mcready "Wake up. WAKE UP NERISSA" she shouted pulling the soft duvet from the girl. "Five more minutes" Nerissa muttered turning over "No you have to get up and be ready for when the children get hear" explained Mrs Mcready.
At this the blonde shot out of bed and ran to get ready receiving a chuckle from the older women. Washing cold water over her face Nerissa couldn't help but think about having the children stay with them, even though the more she thought about it the more a pit formed in her stomach. She had never spent very long with kids her own age. What if they didn't like her or they thought she was weird. Deciding to push that thought away she went to get dressed.
Walking to here wardrobe she picked out a blue dress that stops just before her knee and had puffed sleeves then she picked out a white cardigan that she tied around her waist. She looked in the mirror and was satisfied tell she looked at her hair, which had serious bed head so she sat down infront of the mirror and started to try and taim it. This can prove to be extremely difficult sometimes at she had wavy hair so it could be really wild and frizzy, Luckly today wasn't one of those days as she started to do two French plaits on either side of her head but she left the bottom half of her hair down as she liked the way her curls where looking. She finished of by putting two small blue ribbons at the ends of her plaits.
Walking back over to the wardrobe she bent down to the draw at the bottom and got out some white ankle sock with frills on them and put them on while sitting on the wooden floor.
"Nerissa" called Mrs Mcready "Breakfast is ready" at this the girl only realised she was hungry, she had been thinking it was just the nerves, so she grabbed her book off of her nightstand and when down stairs.
Arriving in the kitchen, Betty and Margaret greeted her good morning while passing over the girls breakfast. Porridge. If there was one thing Nerissa loved most in the food world was Porridge, especially with golden syrup, her grandfather would often joke that she loved porridge more then him and to this she would reply "not more than reading though" which they both spent the better part of five minutes having to recover from the attack of laughter they experienced. Gobbling down her porridge Nerissa was drawn away from the pleasant memory to Mrs Mcready announcing her departure to pick up the evacuees and that Nerissa would have 30 minutes to make herself presentable to greet them and with that she kissed the girls head and walked towards the front door. After calling goodbye to the older women Nerissa rinsed her bowel and trudged to the main hallway and out the front door towards her favorite spot to sit in the grounds, next to the large Oak tree.
This spot was perfect you could see the road stretching far enough that she could run back to the house before they arrive back home, as well as that the spot had perfect sun to shade ratio so that you wouldn't get too hot or too cold and to top it all off there were always daisy's and marigolds blooming around the tree.
Climbing onto the branches, Nerissa sat in the crook of the tree and opened her book, The Secret Garden, and began to read the words that decorated the page of the delicate book. It was one of the original copies from 1911. Her Grandfather had bought a copy for his son when he was just a boy and it had stayed with his sons childhood belongings when he moved out to marry her mother. She was sad she never got to know her parents, but she had her grandfather and even Mrs Mcready so she was content enough, halfway happy. Settling further into the tree Nerissa was getting awfully comfortable, the dangerous type of comfortable where you can fall asleep.

And that's exactly what happened. It's not like she wanted to fall asleep, she never means to anyways it just happens. She slipped into a very comfortable dream of a snow covered forest glistening in the winter sun and she was just wandering along near what would've been a large river, but now it just looked like a large frozen snake as it winds through the great woods. Pausing momentarily, Nerissa hears giggling and singing all around her unsure of which direction it is actually coming from till it ceases altogether. Walking deeper into the forest she searched for the source of the noise, franticly almost, when suddenly something grabs at her ankles and begins to pull her down into the frozen ground causing her to suffocate as shes buried in a snowy tomb.

Jolting awake, Nerissa had to double check her surroundings to make sure she was safe, looking around at the green leaves of the tree and feeling the summer sun pinching her skin. Realisation hits Nerissa as she remembers the refugees are on there way and she doesnt know how far Mcready was from returning. Spinning round to look down the road Nerissa saw that they were halfway up to the house, it was lucky Mrs Mcready took the horse and carriage instead of the car as it gives Nerissa a shot at sneaking in. Leaping from the branch she inhabited, the girl sprints to the house cluching her book tightly as she goes. Tearing open the front door, she gives herself a once over in the mirror, making sure her appearance would be deemed, atleast at minimum, adaquate by Mrs Mcready and the guest's. There is a slight grass stain on her knee where she'd landed and her hair is slightly tousled from her nap but apart from that Nerissa nods, deeming herself presentable enough. Sitting down in one of the hallways chairs, Nerissa licks her thumb and tries to wipe the grass stain of a little, when the door knob begins to rattle slightly she snaps bolt upright, grabbing her book and pretending to read as the door know turns and the large doors are pushed open
