Witches Among Humans

Chapter 3

"I've enrolled you in a school down the road from here, so you can learn human knowledge, make some friends and most importantly do not draw attention to yourself!"

Luz was repeating these words in her head over and over again as she walked down the street towards the human school, Eda had given her an orange beanie, camo green jacket and blue and white striped shirt. Luz walked past the school entrance and up the main road leading through the school, the bell rung and it was surprisingly mundane. Luz looked at the schedule Eda had given her and navigated herself to the classroom she was supposed be in and walked into the class. "Ah! You must be the new student! Perfect timing" The teacher said gesturing to Luz "everyone this is-" but Luz interrupted her "Luz, Luz Noceda" and waved to the class but none of them paid much attention to her. "Ok Luz, You can sit down next to Willow" the teacher said pointing to a girl with short navy blue hair and round glasses, "Ok" Luz said cheerfully before sitting down next to Willow. After a few seconds of awkward silence Luz decided to introduce herself and turned to Willow "Hi, I'm Luz", Willow looked at Luz, her navy blue hair was styled in a longish pixie cut that just brushed the edge of her eye, ((A/N just an fyi, I'm using the beta design for all the characters except for Hunter - Cuz I don't like his beta design - So that means beta Willow!! I love beta Willow)) "Willow" she said holding her hand out, Luz looked at it before shaking it. "Ok, so class today we're learning about scientific notation and the laws of indices. Starting with the Laws of indices, the first law is: If the number has the same base, but different indices than it becomes 'a' to the power of 'm' times 'a' to the power of 'n' which equals 'a' to the power of 'm + n'....." The teacher starting droning on about some human term, and Luz started to zone out. ((A/N Feel free to skip the maths part...I dunno why I put it there...I just did...but hey! Now you can make your parents think you're doing grade 8 maths from a probably outdated maths textbook :P )) 

Goldie was pacing around on the roof of the building where he had seen Luz the other day, "I really hope she didn't recognise my voice or something..." he said turning to L'il Rascal, who was sitting on the back of a plastic chair. "Cheep cheep" L'il Rascal responded and Goldie sighed pinching the bridge of his nose "Aaand I am talking to a bird" L'il Rascal chirped and flew onto Goldie's head and Goldie sat down on the edge of the building "I need to find a way back to The Boiling Isles. Uncle is definitely going to get mad at me when I get back... If I can't get back soon, then I'm going to have to find a way to blend in, which means..." he shuddered "That would be a very big hit to my ego, but I don't think I'm going to have a choice soon..."   

It was a sunny day, quite hot actually, and a young teenage boy was walking down the street. He had brown hair, tan skin and dark green eyes. He had just gotten back from a doctors appointment and was now walking towards his school, he was still at least 45 minutes away though, when he felt the ground shake a bit and a giant octopus looking thing crashed through a building. The boy gasped in shock and started running as fast as he could screaming for help as the giant octopus crashed through the city. 

Luz had just left her second class of the day, which meant it was lunch time, so she walked to the tuckshop where Willow had told her to meet at. When Luz arrived at the tuckshop she saw Willow with her hands in the pockets of her yellow coat and waved to her, Willow took a hand out of her pocket and gave Luz a small wave. "Hey Willow!" Luz said as she approached her "Hey Luz, this is Gus" Willow said motioning to the younger boy standing next to her "Hi, I'm Gus" Luz smiled "I'm Luz". "C'mon let's go get a table before they're all taken" Willow said slipping her hand back in her pocket and turning around. 

It was now the second last period of the school day and everyone was playing sport out on the oval, Luz had this class with Willow and Gus. "Hey Luz hit this one!" Gus said throwing a baseball at Luz who was holding a bat, Luz got ready to hit it, when she saw a girl with mid-length green hair styled in a half up half down and golden eyes, Luz froze in her position and just stared at her in awe but suddenly she got hit in the face with the baseball ((A/N It hurts...Sadly I learnt that the hard way...)) and Luz turned to face Gus "Ow!" she said and held the side of her head "Oh! I'm sorry Luz!" Gus shouted and Willow leaned sideways towards Luz "That girl is Amity Blight, she's top student" and Luz looked at her in surprise and Willow smirked "What did you think I couldn't see you staring at her?". Just then there was a loud crashing sound and everyone looked outside the school gates and saw a giant octopus heading right for them and leaving a trail of destruction behind it, "Oh no...I guess I should have thought that me and King wouldn't be the only things that came through from The Boiling Isles" Oh and The Golden Guard...but he hasn't shown himself yet  Luz thought, "What was that?" Willow asked Luz turning to her "O-oh nothing, nothing...I-uh-I have to go to the bathroom" Luz said running off and hiding around the corner. 

2 minutes later Luz was back, but now she was dressed in her usual clothes from The Boiling Isles. She swooped in on Owlbert, using her magic to blast shots at The Puppeteer, it retaliated revealing a bunch of different puppets who started attacking her. Luz drew a plant spell and shot vines at three of the puppets cutting their heads off, but The Puppeteer threw a tentacle at her, taking her by surprise she fell into the wall of the school  behind her. Luz got up with a determined look in her eyes and cast a light spell, blinding The Puppeteer momentarily, it wasn't long but it was enough for Luz to fly behind it and stab it in the head with a sharp vine, causing it to shrink to the size of a hamster. Luz cast another light spell and flew behind the school, switching into her human clothes, she turned around and saw Willow standing there with a shocked expression on her face "...You're a witch?!" she whisper yelled and Luz jumped looking at Willow in shock "...If I said no would you believe me?" Willow shook her head and Luz sighed "Fine, but only two people know and that's two too many ok? Don't tell anyone please?" Willow nodded "Deal". But then they heard the sound of a shutter click and they looked over to see Gus "Oh, hey Luz!" and they both stared at him in shock for a few seconds before Luz ran over to Gus "Gus! Give that to me!" and Willow called after Luz "Luz! Don't erase his memory!!"

Luz had just walked out of her period four class, after convincing Gus to not tell anyone about her being a witch, suddenly Luz bumped into someone making Luz fall to the ground and making them spill their drink all over their shirt "Oh-oh! I'm so sorry!" Luz said as looked up at the girl, she had bright pink hair and blue eyes along with a mean expression across her face "You should be! This is new!"

Amity was walking away from the side gate of the school when she heard someone say "one down two to go" and as she turned the corner she saw Bosha being mean to the new girl. So she decided to record her "Oh hey Amity, want to join?" Bosha asked upon noticing Amity walk back into the school "Nah, I prefer just to watch" Amity replied hitting record. Just when Bosha was about to pour the liquid onto the girl's beanie when Amity said "I wouldn't do that if I were you..." making Bosha stop in her tracks "unless that is, you want me to show this to the principal? He might take you off the team..." Bosha turned around with an angry expression on her face "He wouldn't do that!" and Amity smirked at her "Maybe not...But do you really want to take that risk?" Bosha growled and walking past Amity angrily  "I thought we were friends Amity" and Amity scoffed "Don't flatter yourself" and Bosha stomped off. Amity turned and started walking away, when the girl said something "Wow thankyou, I'm Luz, why did you do that?" and Amity stopped but didn't turn around "I am a Blight, which means I can do whatever I want" with that, Amity walked calmly away but still heard Luz say "That doesn't answer my question?"

Phew! That took me waaaaaaaay longer than it should've, anyway! I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I am currently writing the next one as you are reading this, unless you are reading this more than 3 hours after I publish this...cuz then I'll either have written it, or I'm nearly done.
