"Here banks, it's your turn" River joked sitting in front of him icing his wrist taking care of him the way he did her. "Thank you" he laughed a bit looking at her as his heart beats quicker by the second. His face swept a light crimson.
"I really hate those guys" Adam whispers looking at Rivers hurt features "Yeah I feel the same way, I mean if you're going to play play right" she huffed out in frustration and Adam could tell. Adam opened his mouth to speak but they heard chatter outside the door which stopped him from saying another word.
"Twelve to three, huh? Twelve to three." "Ya think Hendrix is interested in backing a loser? You're only good to us of you win" "Don, i'm- i've" "i- i've been good to you, man. i gave ya a real shot. A real shot
to be somebody and this is how you repay me."
"We just didn't have the magic tonight.""Well, you better get the damn magic, and you better get it fast. Or i'm out of a job, and you're on your way back to Palookaville, Minnesota, shoveling snow and sharpening skates. Have a nice night." He said leaving in a rush.
River and Adam looked at each other heading back to the locker room. Back with the team coach starts his speech "Twelve to three. You know what word comes to mind when you think of that? Hmm? Pathetic! You guys were brought here to play hockey."
"What about you?" "What about me, Jesse?" "Coach Stansson knew everything about us. They were ready for us." Julie stated "And you spend your time driving around in convertibles talking to those sponsor fools." Luis mentioned.
"Or hanging with the iceland lady." Dean finally said growing the teams point. "We saw you two Saturday night." "Eating ice cream with the enemy, huh, coach?" Fulton backed up "What? What are you talking about? What's going on? Hey. Hey, what i do is none of your business. is that clear?"
"See but it is our business, you're our coach!" River said standing up swinging one of her hands in the air. "Don't make me get mad at you too River!" She clenched her jaw gliding her tongue against the inside of her cheek, the team noticed she was angry, I mean everyone was.
They started to take their pads off "Don't take those pads off. Everyone stay in your gear. We have practice." "Tonight?" Asked Goldberg not wanting to believe it the words coming out of Coach's mouth.
"This isn't very much fun, Coach." Who said it was supposed to be fun?" "You did, when you coached the Ducks." "Well, i don't see any Ducks here, Charlie. All i see is Team U.S.A. one loss away from elimination."
"Twenty more sprints! Let's go! Line up! Come on, let's go! Line up, Charlie! Let's go! Keep you here all night if i have to." Charlie and River looked at each other and River rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"Hey it's gonna be okay, he'll come to his senses, I promise" Charlie says skating next to River "He's a good person" He backed up "Yeah, well I hope you're right" She murmured and he gave her an innocent smile. They talked every chance they got during their practices, Charlie especially liked talking about how he was in Minnesota.
They kept practicing over and over again which caused them to be very tired throughout their free time and especially in class. "Luis" Miss. Mackay softly tried to wake him up "sorry" he replied still very tired but managing to sit up straight.
The next day in class they had an outside lesson, a failed attempt from Miss Mackay trying to keep them awake. Julie and River fell asleep on each other. Julie on a piece of wood while rivers head was on her lap. Averman and Matt were also asleep cuddled against each other finally getting some rest.
