Tohru stays frozen for the few seconds that Kyo's lips are pressed against her, her eyes wide and breath caught in her throat.

Never in her dream did she think her first kiss would be like this... Those mere five seconds stretched on forever. As if time had been suspended.

She is unable to grasp anything more than the fact that his lips are actually soft, like she had always fantasized, when his lips are already gone. The kiss was like a drop of rain on a summer evening.

Kyo abruptly pulls away when he realizes just what he had done. Thanks to the sky full of stars and moonlight, she can see the flush creeping up from the collar of his shirt to the tip of his ears as he turns away his face from her. "S-sorry, that was out of the line," he chokes out.

Tohru herself feels blood rushing to her cheeks, and suddenly the fresh air on the roof has gotten so thick. But she waves her arms around frantically in an attempt to assure him, "No, no, it's fine, Kyo! I was the one who provoked you!" She blushes harder as she adds, "I told you to do it, and you just... did."

Her flustered tone earns a small chuckle from him. "See? That wasn't so hard."

"I wouldn't say so..." she trails off honestly.

Kyo snaps his neck at her. "What do you mean?"

She doesn't know if it was possible to get any redder, but she did anyway. "I mean... You didn't move your lips..." Like I have seen in movies. She squeezes her eyes shut and hugs herself tighter before practically spitting out, "And I couldn't either!"

Tohru dreads and slaps herself internally for saying it out loud. She expects him to laugh it off or just get up and leave her there. But his response isn't what she expects.

"Well, do you want to?"

This is the first time she has heard Kyo use that tone—deep and husky, like a man, not the awkward boy she has always known him to be. But she likes this too.

Tohru opens her eyes and looks at him, his amber eyes a few shades darker than usual, which she thinks is because of the darkness of the night. He looks so beautiful under the moonlight, his orange hair toned down, his enticing eyes staring at her intently, his lips parted...

And that's all she can focus on. His inviting lips. Just now they had felt so soft. But it was too brief. She wants to feel them again.

Before she can process anything else, the consent slips out of her mouth on its own, "Yes."

Within the next few seconds, his calloused hand reaches out to her and cups her cheek. His warm hand is a nice contrast to her cold skin. It sends shivers down her spine. She doesn't know who leans in first and she doesn't care, but their lips meet midway, connecting gently.

Unlike last time, this time she feels the romance novels coming to life. She can feel the butterflies dancing in her stomach when his lips move against hers in a sloppy, confused, and inexperienced manner, and she's sure hers do as well when she responds to it.

But in an imperfect way, their lips seem to mold against each other. Even if their teeth scrape against each other and their noses are bumping, probably the angle isn't right, but it's somehow still the best feeling ever. Probably the rain she had always dreamed about during their first kiss is lacking. But everything else? Perfect.

In the moment of the kiss, she lets herself be vulnerable. She unwraps an arm from around her knees and fists her fingers into the front of his shirt, giving him a little tug forward, making thread his other hand through her hair.

The new closeness elicits fireworks in her belly. The heat from his body is electric. And his hand in her hair makes her feel like she could combust.

Tohru can continue the kiss for eternity... if only she didn't need to breathe.
