The cursed hero

Chapter 12

All Might and others were confused about what was going on. The mics were off and they saw a heated argument happen between Izuku and Bakugo. They were confused as to why Izuku didn't capture Bakugo.

"All Might," came the voice of Izuku from the mic.

"What Young Midoriya?" he asked as Izuku began to speak again.

"We are going to fight one on one, please don't stop it unless one of us is either captured or seriously injured, the time runs out, or Uraraka captures the target. "

"I'll see Young Midoriya, but if it gets out of hand I'll stop it," All Might said as Izuku nodded while looking at the camera.

Izuku then shot towards Bakugo who brought his fist up for an explosion but Izuku slid beneath him from between his legs and quickly tried to swipe Bakugo off his feet only for him to jump up and dodge.

Both of them went back to a safe distance as Bakugo charged in with a right hook.

"Right hook, typical you Kacchan," Izuku said as he grabbed his hand, flipped him over his shoulder slamming him into the ground, and then kicked him into the wall.

"OUCH! THAT FUCKING HURT DAMN NERD!"

"LANGUAGE!" 

"AYE AYE CAP'N!" 

Both chuckled as they engaged in some more combat while the class looked at them in awe.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?" asked Kirishima in awe as Izuku punched Bakugo in the face drawing some blood from both his teeth and his own knuckles.

They both took out the capture tape as they used it like lasso trying to get their opponent. Izuku suddenly used it to grab the pipe above them as he swung and kicked Bakugo who barely reacted and brought his hand up creating an explosion which both softened the blow a little and gave Izuku a lot of recoil and burn damage.

"That was smart," said Izuku as gingerly stood in his right foot which got damaged.

"Tch. You can heal from it," said Bakugo annoyed as Izuku grinned smugly.

"But... you ain't ready for this!" Bakugo said as he went in with another right hook. Izuku brought his hand up to counter it but Bakugo changed his own trajectory mid-air as he got behind Izuku and blasted him in the back.

"OUCH!" 

"TAKE MORE DEKU!" he yelled as Izuku barely dodged more blasts as he jumped towards the wall.

"TAKE THIS!" Izuku yelled punching him again in the jaw as Bakugo blasted a little bit of his chest, nicking a bit of fabric showing his abs.

"Tch. You even bulked up in the past 10 months," said Bakugo as he went in for a bit of hand-to-hand combat.

"Yeah, I did," Izuku said as the tear healed itself.

"Whoa, that's neat."

"Yep. Tech developed by David Shield. There had been many self-repairing fabrics that had Nanocapsules filled with glue-like material, but this directly uses carbon from the atmosphere. I don't know the details, but it uses a small amount of electricity flowing through the circuit embedded in the fabric which has a really small battery charged by body heat and other sources of warmth."

"Are they talking while engaging in an intense hand-to-hand combat match?" asked Mina Ashido in awe.

"Yep they are," chuckled Kaminari as Ichigo looked at them impressed.

"Deku, did you know that this gauntlet isn't just for show?" asked Bakugo as he put his finger on the pin.

"Heh, I guess no, but now I am getting a vague idea," said Izuku as he trained his eyes on the gauntlet.

"This collects my sweat, and when I pull the pin..."

"BAKUGO SHONEN NO! YOU COULD KILL HIM!"

"As if something this trivial could kill that damn nerd," said Bakugo as he pulled the pin.

A large explosion was let out and the spectators had to cover their eyes due to the amount of light it radiated.

"Midoriya! Can you listen to me?" asked All Might on the mic as the corridor was filled with smoke.

The next moment Izuku had come out of it, clothes half-burned and charred but otherwise fine as he punched Bakugo in the stomach.

"I barely dodged that," said Izuku panting. They were ready to clash when All Might announced.

"URARAKA HAS CAPTURED THE TARGET! HERO TEAM WINS!" 

"WHAT?"

A few minutes ago, Ochako had reached to the floor where Iida was. Iida was busy doing his villain impersonation which caused Ochako to almost lose it.

'NO! YOU CAN'T LET DEKU DOWN, HE BELIEVED IN YOU!'

With that, she took off her helmet and removed its weight. She then pushed it to the far end of the room. When it reached the desired position, she removed the weight causing it to fall with a thud.

"Huh! Who's there?" asked Iida looking there.

Ochako used this time to make her weightless and float to behind Iida in a position where the bomb directly came in between her and Iida's vision, giving her enough cover to float slowly towards the bomb as Iida still focused on the area.

Iida, who was slowly walking to the place where he had heard the thud reached there only to find a helmet.

He turned back but it was too late as the war was over and it was won by the heroes.

"Can anyone tell me who the MVP was?" asked All Might looking at the students.

"Well, I guess Midoriya since he came up with a plan and kept Bakugo busy?" asked Mina.

"No."

"It should be Uraraka, since she stuck to the plan to the end and worked quite cleverly. While Midoriya did come up with the plan, he had many chances to capture Bakugo but he didn't for some reason. I find that very irrational," said Momo as All Might sweatdropped.

"While I agree with you about Uraraka being the MVP, please do not comment on stuff you don't know. Midoriya and Bakugo have had a lot of history together, and they've been on bad terms. This was a chance for them to clear the past up," said Kaminari, a little angrily.

"But why use training for that?" countered Momo.

"Momo, calm down, and you too Kaminari. As for why now, the reality of a person comes out only during a heart-to-heart or a fight. Since they've been on bad terms, I guess it's pretty obvious that the former is out of the question. Now sir, can we proceed with the tests?" said Ichigo as Kaminari stuck his tongue out to Momo who pouted causing Kaminari to chuckle. Seeing this Momo smiled, though she kept her pout.

(To clear it up, this is not a ship, it's more of that sibling-like friendship)

The rest of the matches were pretty much uneventful, barring Shoto freezing the whole building and Kaminari and Ichigo fighting each other.

Ochako and Iida were spectating while Izuku and Bakugo were sent to Recovery Girl because Izuku couldn't heal completely.

Meanwhile, Bakugo and Izuku were watching from the recovery room.

"Icyhot guy is strong," said Izuku as Bakugo nodded.

"A lot of them are strong. That Ponytail, Round Face, Four Eyes, Ponytail's twin, Dunce face, in face everyone."

"Yeah. But why do I feel that Todoroki's got some stuff holding him back? I mean he is cold, and not as in his quirk, but personality. He was also glaring at me," Izuku commented.

"Same. I guess we'll find it later."
