The curses were conquered. The battle was over. However... it was also time for Itadori Yuji's execution.
Gojo was standing across him, as he was being escorted for execution, Fushiguro walking side by side.
"It's alright Fushiguro," said Yuji with a warm smile.
"It's not..." he muttered.
"No, seriously, I had chosen this a long time ago, I'm not sad. In fact, I just might be the only person in the world who's dying without any regrets," said Itadori.
'Heh, I still remember the first day we met, you wanted to die without any regrets. Looks like you lived on your terms and you're dying on your own terms kid. I'm proud of you,' thought Gojo walking with a small but genuine smile.
"But still... you're my only friend," said Fushiguro.
"Okay... Maki, Panda, and Inumaki senpai would all be really offended now," joked Itadori.
"Heh, I guess they would be," said Fushiguro with a sad chuckle.
"Come on, be happy Fushiguro. I'll see you, though I hope not too soon. Plus I really want to punch Nobara for taking on Mahito like that," said Itadori.
"Well, wait for me before doing that, will ya?" asked Fushiguro jokingly.
"Yeah, but take your time," said Itadori as he walked away.
"Bye Gojo sensei," he said with a smile, as Gojo too smiled at him, but one lone tear rolled down from under his glasses.
As he got ready for execution, he was pulled into his mindscape.
"Heh? Oh, Sukuna. Here to irritate me before dying?" asked Itadori jokingly.
"Tch. You win, I lose. I never thought I'd lose to a child," he said with a grumpy look.
"Aww, come on, you knew it from the start," teased Itadori. He was going to die, so what could Sukuna do? Plus lately, he and Sukuna had been on rather friendly terms since Sukuna had begrudgingly accepted that even though he was stronger, he wouldn't get control over Yuji.
But that didn't mean that it was bad. After years of killing, years of mass murder, and everything, that stuff had become boring. However, seeing Itadori struggling through life, fighting curses, and other stuff, was entertaining. Too fun for him. Like it was all a movie, and his favorite characters were Fushiguro and Yuji.
So naturally, he had gotten attached and somewhat protective of his favorite characters.
"Let's make a final pact," said Sukuna.
"And why do you think I will agree? I'm done with my life," said Yuji.
"No, not that. The pact is that when you reincarnate, your reincarnation will have my power, but not my personality," said Sukuna.
"Where is your benefit in that?" asked Yuji.
"There isn't. However, I'm what you humans define as crazy, though I'm not very different from Gojo. But my point is, your life has really entertained me, and in the future, there are going to be 'crazy' people (*cough*Nezu*cough*) like me, and they would really enjoy such a thing," said Sukuna.
"Well... if he ain't getting your personality and only your power, well, it would be interesting," said Yuji as he scratched his chin.
"So? Do you agree?" asked Sukuna.
"Here are the terms. Neither you nor I can influence his personality too much. He will have your powers, but he'll learn to use them by himself. That's about it. No other hidden terms or motive," said Yuji.
