The Wilds of the Kingdom and the Ice Fire

Chapter five

Cynder's P.O.V

I battled the icy wind that held me back. I had been traveling for a week without any food, water or sleep. I had no idea where I was but all I knew was that I needed to keep moving or I'll freeze.

I let out a startled cry as the ground gave out from underneath me and I landed in surprisingly warm water. I had no strength left. I let the water take me under. I was running out of air. Spots were starting to appear in front of my eyes. But then I saw a boy. He had what looked like a bubble around his head, he was kicking his legs in long strokes. He reached me just as I was starting to lose conscious. He takes a deep breath and removes his helmet and kisses me putting air in my lungs. The spots disappear from my vision and I look up at this boy that saved my life.

He looks to be about the same age I am, he has blue eyes and dirty blonde hair. He smiles at me, and I manage to make some sort of smile back. He blows air in his bubble and to my surprise it expands. He pulls me under the bubble with him, our faces inches apart. He grins at me.

"My name's Dart." He said.

I try and smile back but I start shaking uncontrollably. I try and ignore it.

"C-cynder." I manage to choke out. Dart looks at me worried and I give him a craggy smile. He grins again and leaned down and kisses me gently on the forehead. My shaking slows down but does not stop completely. He scoops me up, my head still under the bubble.

We start to head to the surface of the water, I see a house made out of giant shells. I'm trying to stay conscious, but my eyesight starts to get blurry, and I black out.

I blink open my eyes and try and sit up but a hand gently pushes me back down.

"Shhh...its alright just let me take care of you." a voice said. My eyes come into focus and I find myself looking at Dart. He smiles. I try and smile back but instead I wince. I look down at my arm. It was Bandaged up and was slowly soaking up with blood.

"You cut yourself on the ice when you fell through." Dart says when he sees my confusion. I quickly look at my hands. I have a silver oval on my hand. I try to keep it hidden because whenever anyone sees it they look at me like i'm a freak. I've seen its exclamation in an book. It's called a The Killing Phantom. I can make illusions appear in front of people eyes of what they are scared of the most. And I can control the phantom, so it kills them.

I look up at Dart who is looking at me worriedly. I roughly shove my hands behind my back hoping he did not see it while he had cleaned my wounds. Dart reaches out to take my hands away from my back, but I scoot away and hit the wall. I whimper knowing what's going to happen. Dart takes my arm and slowly pulls it out from my back. He stares at the Killing Phantom on my hand for a moment, then he looks back up at me. I don't mean to, I try to keep them in, But the tears just start flowing. I began to sob,

"I didn't want to be this way!" I blubber. I rub my eyes and feel another bandage right above my left eye. I must have cut my self there too.

Dart comes and sits down next to me on the bed. He wraps his arms around me and pulls me closer to him. He gently puts his lips on my temple. My crying slowly stops and Dart pulls away from me. He smiles at me.

I smile too and then confused look comes over my face. I think back when he kissed my forehead my shuddering had stopped. And Just know when he kissed my temple my crying had stopped. "How..."

Dart blushes and looks away. "Its a stupid power but when I Kiss girls it takes away any crying, shuddering, coughing, sneezing-"

I hiccup.

"And hiccups." Dart finished grinning.

Now it was my turn to blush, after all i've been giving him all the reasons to kiss me. Dart smirks he leans in and kisses me. Not just a kiss on the forehead, but a real kiss.
