[Chapter C/W: None]
"It's too hot to live in these conditions..." Kohaku says wiping the sweat from her brow. Tokyo springs were full of humidity. She really didn't understand how people didn't sweat themselves to death here in this bustling city.
She puts an extra kick in her step to almost be in a jog now. Being late on the first day of the new job doesn't look very good. Especially in a culture where arriving 10 minutes early is considered on time.
"I just had to move to a big city, didn't I? Stupid train is going to make me late already." She sighs to herself. And it doesn't get much bigger than Tokyo. She grew up in the countryside of Japan in the prefecture of Iwate(*1) In a town called Ninohe(*2). Not a whole lot of anything going on there. The winters were especially harsh so she wouldn't be missing that very much. Though she's not sure if the brutal Tokyo summers are any better. But she decided it was time for a change from her countryside life. That's exactly why she left to journey to the large bustling city of Tokyo. She always wanted to move to the big city. Kind of like in the movies.
"God, and I used to think Morioka was big. If it weren't for Google I'd defiantly be lost right now." She says quietly to herself.
She takes a sharp right into the next street and arrives at her destination. Her new job. Ideally, this wasn't what she thought she would see herself doing long term, but until she can figure out how to get a job in her desired field, this is the best thing that gets her into the city and keeps her alive with a paycheck day to day.
Childcare.
She always had a soft spot for children and enjoyed being in their presence, so it wasn't like it was her last choice. However, it can get tiring dealing with a bunch of snot nosed kids doing whatever they please. Though the sweet ones usually tend to make up for the otherone's antics.
Upon entering the daycare, the first person Kohaku sees is girl with bright pink and green hair. Definitely not the person she did her interview with. Must be one of her coworkers.
"You must be Ameyama Kohaku! Nice to meet you officially! Come with me! You can put your shoes in this locker here. The kids should be arriving in about an hour! We will go through some quick last minute things before you start your first day." She was soft spoken and very sweet sounding. However, it did seem that she was in a hurry, so Kohaku quickly throws her shoes in a locker designated by her name, puts on her indoor shoes, and follows quickly after the pink and green haired girl.
"Thanks for helping me out today. Sorry but I didn't catch your name?" Kohaku says following closely behind.
"Oh, that's right! We haven't met yet. Forgive me for being rude. I'm Iguro Mitsuri!" She says with a smile.
"Kocho Sensei told me so much about you and how stellar you application and interview were! We're so happy to have an experienced member like you on our team!" She adds happily.
That name defiantly rings a bell. Kocho sensei was who interviewed her. She was so beautiful with her black purple hair. But she was a little intimidating. Very kind though none the less. Kohaku was no novice to childcare after all, after she left her hometown of Ninohe to attend college in Morioka, the capital of the prefecture, she worked part-time at a similar job to pay for school. Which her field of study coincidentally was focused on child psychology. Someday her dream is to be a psychologist for children. To be able to help them through anything that might be troubling them. Children are the future after all.
"I just hope I can live up to your expectations, Iguro san."(*3) She says with a smile.
"Nonsense! This job is more fun than anything. We have a really good batch of kids here!" she says cheerfully.
