[Chapter C/W: Some language]
It was a good thing that Kohaku memorized her school route within the first week. Now being without a phone, getting lost just became a much bigger reality. Thankfully, she was able to arrive Monday morning without any problems.
This Monday morning started out like any other day at the daycare, Kohaku, Iguro Mitsuri and her helper which she learned her name was Tsuyuri Kanao, Welcome the kids inside for the day. Kanao is very quiet, but very good with the younger kids, and a big help to Mitsuri.
After all the kids come in, Iguro san pulls me to the side for a moment.
"Sorry to bother you Ameyama san, do you have a moment? I tired to message you this weekend, but the messages didn't go through." She says.
"I'm so sorry about that! My phone got broken beyond repair this weekend so for the time being, I'm without a phone. I'm sorry for the trouble." Kohaku says looking down.
"Oh! I had no idea! I'm so sorry to hear about that! Don't apologize! I just was wondering, would you be interested in helping out here at the daycare on Saturday? You'd get paid overtime and it's only for 5 hours. Our usual Saturday staff has been dealing with some family matters and won't be back until next week. We'd really appreciate it if you can." She says.
It's clear she feels bad for having to ask.
"It's no trouble. I can do it! I have no plans this weekend." Kohaku says with a smile.
"What a relief! Thank you so much! I'll let Kocho Sensei know ASAP. Come in before 8!" She says smiling.
It's only 8-12 and Kohaku could use the extra money anyways. Plus it's not like she has to plan anything for this Saturday, just watch the children.
With that conversation out of the way, Kohaku heads off to the fourth year room to begin the day.
A moment before she starts taking role call, Kohaku notices Tamami sneak into the classroom and take her seat next to Riku.
Then it all comes back at the sight of the child that looks so much like her father.
Saturday night and the beyond embarrassing turn of events that took place. Not to mention the fact that she would have to see the sliver haired man again today when he comes to pick up his daughter. Kohaku wanted to hide away, especially after finding him on that magazine as well. One of her kid's father was a famous model? Unreal...
The kid's day goes by smoothly. Making some finger painting crafts, learning colors in English, reading a new story during snack time, all the usual things.
Then came the time that Kohaku had been dreading all day. She knew for a fact that Tengen would be the last parent to show up and she was beyond afraid he would mention Saturday night again especially in front of his four year old daughter.
Anything but that.
Maybe she can make some excuse why she has to leave early and make Iguro san hand her over to Tengen. That would only delay the inevitable however considering it's only Monday. Best to get it done and over with probably.
It comes down to 5:45. Riku's dad would be here any minute to grab her followed by Tamami's. Kohaku was busy hanging up the kids finger paintings when she hears the small sliver haired girl say.
"Sensei! I forgot! I'm suppose to give you something!"
"Eh? What is it?" Kohaku asks coming down from the step stool.
The fuchsia eyed child goes into her bag and proceeds to pull out a small white box. It's takes Kohaku a minute to register what was on the front of the box.
