A sigh left your lips yet again and you just wanted to lie down on your bed for the rest of the day, not wanting to get up and face the world again tomorrow. You were just randomly feeling so insecure today. Your face, your body, your personality, basically everything made you so upset and miserable. 

It didn't help that today was promotion day at work and everyone was expecting you to be promoted because you definitely worked your ass off the whole 3 years you were working at the company. However, the higher-ups announced that the newbie would be promoted, which totally didn't make sense at all. All the hours of hard work, all the blood, sweat, and tears sacrificed for your company just felt so ignored. You began to think about what exactly you did wrong that made the higher-ups choose the newbie instead of you to be promoted. And that led to a whole lot of self-doubt about your work competency, making you feel even worse. You took leave for the rest of the day and just stayed home, lying on the bed and overthinking every small action or thing that you said.

You felt yourself go deeper and deeper into the self-hate as the hours passed by and just wanted to run away from everything that was threatening to engulf you. And Yeonjun was working late today again, meaning you won't get to see him much, which made you feel upset. You didn't even realise that you were so tired until you closed your eyes to rest and fell into a deep sleep.

"I'm home! Look what I got you y/n!" Yeonjun announced happily, walking into your shared apartment. He was holding a takeaway bag from your favourite fast-food restaurant as you had been craving that for so long.

"Y/n?" He called out after you didn't respond. He thought something was wrong and immediately ran into your room, feeling anxious that you might've done something foolish, and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw you lying there on the bed sleeping. He crouched down in front of your sleeping figure and noticed that you had tear stains on your cheeks. At that moment, you woke up and opened your eyes to see him staring at you.

"Yeonjun? Didn't you say you were going to work late today? You're back so early?" You asked, rubbing your eyes to check that you weren't seeing things.

"I wanted to give you a surprise." He answered simply, before continuing. "Y/n, why are you crying? What's wrong? Did I do something wrong to upset you?" His eyes were full of concern as he cupped your face into his palms.

"You didn't do anything, wrong love, I'm just feeling a little insecure today. My face, my body, my personality, even my work competency, everything just doesn't make me happy, but I'm fine now that you're back." You answered, giving a small smile to reassure him.

"What's there to be insecure about? You're absolutely perfect y/n. You know how much I love your beautiful smile that makes my day a whole lot better, you are beautiful okay? And your body is fine, you're healthy, that's all that matters. Whatever you do, please don't starve yourself. I know how it's like to go on a diet and I don't want you to go through that. I'm not doing that either because I know it's not healthy, so please don't do that. Continue eating well as you've always been doing, alright? And don't even get me started on your personality. You're so caring, generous, and compassionate, always helping others even when you need help, putting others first. And you work so hard in your company, it's unfair that they don't acknowledge that but I'm sure you've proven yourself time and again, some of them must've seen your efforts. Even if they don't, I've seen you working late into the night, even when I'm sleeping, you're still typing away on your laptop, taking on projects, and volunteering so readily for any events. I literally don't know how was I so lucky to have met you y/n, you're doing really well already, so don't worry about all these okay? Cos I would always love you no matter what." He said, with so much adoration in his voice as he ran his fingers through your hair with one hand and pat your back gently with the other.

When you heard that, all the self-hate in your heart evaporated instantly. Instead, it was filled with love for Yeonjun. He was so precious to say all that and if it's one thing you know, it's that you definitely chose the right man.

"You have no idea how much I love you." Saying that you opened your arms as he leaned in for a good long hug. Both of you didn't say anything and just enjoyed each other's presence after a long day of not seeing each other.

"I love you too. Come on, I bought your favourite fast food, you said you've been craving it for a long time didn't you, let's go eat." He said a moment later, planting a kiss on your forehead and holding your hand gently, leading you to the living room as you followed him, your heart swelling with an endless amount of love for him.

A/N: This is for anyone who's feeling insecure today :) Know that it is completely normal to be feeling insecure sometimes but you should also remember that loving yourself and staying healthy and happy is more important than anything else, so chin up, give yourself a pat on the back and move on as a stronger self.
