You walk by the greenhouse early in the morning as you like to meet up with Neville there, and you also had some information you found about a plant for him.

When you reached the greenhouse your heart dropped, Neville was with a girl? It wasn't even that he was with the girl in your meeting spot when he knew you were coming, but how he was smiling, how he was laughing with her, his eyes sparkling like he was the happiest man on Earth.

You didn't want to seem selfish, Neville could be with anyone he wanted to, but why couldn't he want to be with you? "Maybe they're just friends?" You think, not wanting to question any other possibility.

You try to stay on this thought, hoping that it's true, but you can't bring yourself to enter nor even knock on the door.

Throughout the day, you're visibly off, you've been keeping your head down, replaying the image in your head. You were waiting so long for him to ask you out, rejecting others if they asked you out.

But now, has Neville fallen for someone else? Have you wasted your time when you could've been in a happy relationship currently? You walk down the halls on the way to your dorm when you hear footsteps approaching.

You turn your head upwards to see Neville, your favorite flower in his hands. "Hello, Y/n! I-I brought this flower, for you." Neville says handing the flower out to you. You take it from him gently and give him a warm smile, but it's accompanied by sad eyes.

- This is exactly why you've liked Neville for so long. Always caring for the people around, even if it's not someone he's close with he's always kind, besides if someone is ever rude to you. Then another side of him comes out.

"Thanks, Nev, you're sweet." You reply to him.

"Are you feeling okay, Bird?" He asks, trying not to imply that you look like something is wrong.

Neville's been calling you Bird for a while, it's one of your favorite nicknames people call you. You don't want to lie to Neville, but you couldn't tell him about your feelings, he likes another. "Yeah Nev, I'm fine.. Don't worry about me, okay?" You say trying to hide the sadness on your face by hiding it behind a mask of reassurance.

Neville doesn't respond, he's known you for a while and you're really close, he can see right through the mask as though it were transparent. "Can I join you in your room?" He asks and you nod in response.

You walk in silence, it feeling not uncomfortable but also not content.

Once there, Neville speaks again, "Hey, would a hug make it better?" he opens his arms towards you, his face full of concern. You sigh, "I don't know Nev, but it's worth a shot." you wrap you arms around him and he rubs comfortingly up and down your back.

You can't take it anymore and get a sudden burst of confidence, "Do you like her Neville?" He pulls away and looks at you with wide eyes and furrowed brows. "May I ask who?"

"I-" you stutter "I saw you with a girl in the greenhouse earlier."  Neville's eyes softened for a moment. "No! No, of course not!"

"I don't believe you.." you reply, the image of his smile popping back into your vision. You turn away from him, not able to look him in the eye. "Bird, is this what you're sad about? I promise she's just a friend."

You sniff as tears start rolling down your cheeks even though you've tried to hold them in. "You don't have to lie, Neville! I saw your eyes glowing, your smile wider than I've ever seen before, how could you not like her?" Suddenly right after you finish the sentence, Neville grabs your chin turning you to face him. "I can't like her, because I like you way more." He whispers the end, "Can I kiss you?" his eyes dash from your eyes to lips quickly back and forth. You nod once and he pushes his lips to yours.

The kiss feels like pure joy is raining on your body and when you pull away, all you can do is smile.
