January 2, 1349, Gaia Island, in the pink storm seas.

"Quiet sea."

I take out my bow with my left hand, as the silent wind blows my long brown and red hair, I use my right hand and focus all my energy, it glows a lime-Ish green with woodland elements swirling around it,

"Flourishing plants."

Plants start sprouting from my hand and around my bow,

"Hear my spell mighty mushoonians."

I take a deep breath; the small vines cover my bow completely and the entire thing is now a beautiful shade of green and sprouting little pink flowers.

I stop for a second

"Yes!" I squealed "it worked! It work-"

My flower covered bow shrivelled away into black dust, revealing a normal Tatar's bow.

"Dang it!" I said, throwing the bow in the water, "it almost worked this time!!!"

I sat on my rock quietly looking at my bow sinking in the bright blue sea.

"Okay I'll try one more time..." I said to myself, diving in the water to fetch my bow.

My name is Glory, Glory Amanita Mascaria, I am currently trying to teach myself to use plant magic, something all mushroonians will learn some part in their lives, usually at 25 to 30, I am only 19 right now, turning 20 in about seven months, everyone on our island says that I'm too young, but I'm sure I'll manage, after all my father was the strongest person of our island for about 30 years, until he went... missing, missing for about eight years now.

I'm over him though, mostly, sometimes...

Sigh...

"Oh dad," I cried, "I miss you; I miss you so much..."

My mother appeared on the beach walking towards me, I buried my face in my hands,

"Oh honey," she said, "what's wrong?"

"I miss him..."

Her nice smile disappeared, and she hugged me in sadness, "I do too, but you must get over it," she patted my shoulder, "after all, crying won't get him back, right?"

"Maybe If I could use magic" I said, looking at my bow, "maybe I could find him!"

"Glory, it's not your fault, that was 11 years ago, you were only 8."

"But still..."

"Come on," she said, pulling me off my rock, "even if you couldn't stop your dad from leaving; you can still learn magic."

I smiled and stood up, and we walked back to the village holding hands,

On our way to the training grounds, Jake came and talked to us, he was our best herb picker, who knew where all the best plants on the island were, his face was full of worry,

"Chief!"

My mom turned her head to face him, "yes?"

"I think you would want to see this!"
