He picked a fresh batch of pine needles and put some in the black liquid, it fizzled away in black dust, I gasped and looked at the plants around us, some of them had all the Leafs on the ground, covered in the mysterious dust and missing parts, some of the tree's bark was black and breaking apart, on the ground, Jake picked up a normal looking fruit, the hard-shell iron fruit, he cracked it in half with a dagger, and the inside smelled like burnt marshmallows and fizzled away when brought to the fresh air,
My mother gasped, "the hard-shell iron fruit is the hardest and most protected fruit on our island!"
"I know," Jake said, his eyes dark and tired, "it's been like this for a while now, first I thought it would go away, but now all the fruits I pick here are rotten and all the medical herbs I pick aren't doing anything for the patients who need them! What do I do?!?"
My mom looked shocked, "well..."
"Ugh, for now get all the gatherers, pick every fruit, herb, vegetable, seeds, and bring them to where they'll stay fresh, and gather all the animals you can, and put them in pens."
"What about the black substance?"
"Get the alchemists and test it, try everything to get rid of it! And tell all the villagers to bring out everything that can help!" my mom said, rubbing her eyes in stress, "I knew it would happen eventually, but I didn't think this soon..."
I turned at her, "what did you say?"
"Nothing! I'm just stressed..."
I looked sadly, "are you sure nothing's going on?"
"Yes, I'm sure honey, don't worry."
Jake ran to call everyone, and me and mom were left in the forest,
Mom sighed, "let's get back, it's been a stressful day."
