Chapter 3:You walked into the living room a couple of steps behind Nat, your head down as you were lost in thought. Indistinct chatter happened around you, some of them gave you notice while others paid you no mind. You walked to a bar-kitchen area with Natasha as she introduced you to Steve.
Steve was calm, he seemed to be cooking in the kitchen and getting some things ready in the background of the event. He started with introducing himself and getting to know you Clint and Natasha had already told him about you. And even though you thought a man from the 1940's would judge, he was so far from what most imagined him. Natasha walked away to do something in her room, leaving you with everyone else. It was awkward at first as you stayed close to Steve the whole time, but the moment the others approached you the shell cracked. You met some of the most powerful people on the planet, and even for a moment forgot it, helping them set up and just talking like people. Tony wasn't here yet, he was set to bring the "Prodigy". 'Peter Parker' you pondered on the name, it would've sounded familiar if you kept thinking about it but you choose to be in the moment.
Sitting at the kitchen island with Bruce and Steve, they mostly talked as you listened and wondered where Natasha was. 'Whatever she's doing, I hope she's back soon. I wonder if...' you were interrupted in thought.
"So what about you Y/N, I know it's probably a no-brainer question," Steve said, looking at you.
You came back to reality with that question only to realize you had no idea what you were talking about. "I'm sorry," you said lightly scratching the back of your head "What were we talking about again?"
Bruce found it funny, maybe because you reminded him of himself in some ways "favorite color?"
You laughed, just now you realized that this entire time both Captain America and the Infamous Bruce Banner were discussing their favorite colors with you. "I'm sorry, it's just this isn't what I expected," you rubbed your face "F/C".
Natasha came back just in time as Tony walked in after with Peter right by his side. The party officially began. Turns out Tony was throwing the party because he promised Peter he could join the "Adults'' in a celebration. You talked to Peter who was quick to initiate a conversation with you, he at first thought you were a secret/new member of the team and was disappointed to find out you weren't. It wasn't enough disappointment to stop him from going around and awing at all the others though.
You talked throughout the whole night, about what it's like being in a relationship with a superhero, whether or not you could fly was a question that not only Peter brought up but Thor was also convinced you could do something spectacular.
You decided to take a step out from the party and get a breath of fresh air, there was a balcony. It was the light of the city and the night sky, it overwhelmed you at first after being gone from it for so long but it stayed so beautiful. Taking a deep breath and staring into the city below 'This would've been an even better night out if you were here, I hope you're safe Clint' you thought to yourself. It's been so long since you were in the city at night and could truly appreciate it for once, maybe before you would've hated the reminder, the fact that the lights never turn off. But you were getting better, healing and changing.
