Five years ago,
A sixteen year old Aurielle was sitting in her history class when she got a text.
"Family meeting tonight at dinner."
It was a text from her dad, she started to feel her stomach drop. Audrey her mother had been sick alot and was at the doctor while she was at school. When Aurielle arrived home that afternoon she saw her dad pacing in his home office arguing with someone.
Audrey was asleep, so Aurielle when up to her room and did her homework till it was time for dinner.
Dinner was quiet, until Audrey said "Aurielle baby, you know that I found that lump on my breast."
"Yeah I do. You told me a few months ago that it was nothing." Aurielle said
"I was wrong." Audrey said
Aurielle felt tears welling, "Mom?" She whispered
"They did a biopsy last week, cause it got bigger and I knew that I needed to get it looked at." Audrey said
"But you said it was probably a cyst." She said
"I know baby, and I was wrong. I have Stage 2 breast cancer." Audrey said
"The best thing we can do for your mother is be here for her Auri baby. She needs our support now." Her dad said
Aurielle cried herself to sleep that night, as Audrey laid with her.
