Fall's Fallin'
I remember our first fall together.
We would jump into the big piles of leaves,
Never seeing what lay ahead -
Me jumping because I was with you.
You jumping because you were just having fun.The season fall is the best way to describe us.
I was a leaf, strong, colorful and bright.
Morphing from green to orange to fit your standard.
And eventually, after fall drags on, the leaves fall off the tree,
Slowly, drifting in the wind... but many leaves all at once. But you stepped all over me,
Crushed me into a million pieces under your boot.
Took me into the palm of your hand...
And squeezed with all of your might.
You broke me and shattered me.I would follow you to the ends of the earth.
I fell even though I wanted to stay on the tree longer.
You took the acorns that fell with me and buried them.
You buried them so deep, I don't even know where to start looking for them
But hopefully, they'll grow into a new tree.Hopefully, someday, after being watered and taken care of...
Another tree will bloom... bloom into an evergreen.
And someone will take care of this evergreen and protect it from harm.
And sure, needles will fall from its branches...
But they'll be regrown... rebirthed... and they won't change, they won't fall.
