Partner's In Crime
(Arthur's POV)
It was the first time in the eight months I've known Jack, that I woke up with him still by my side. I was both shocked and ecstatic to see him lying there still soundly asleep beside me. I thought to myself "could this be a dream? Could I be imagining that he was still here or even worse that he exists? If this was a dream, I wouldn't be feeling these feelings, and I sure as hell wouldn't be having this intense amount of pleasure with him." After these thoughts raced in my head, I lay down my head on Jack's shoulder and fall asleep, thinking even if this was a dream, it was the best dream I had ever had. Hours had past, the sun was peaking through my curtains, shining right in my face so I forced to wake up. When I awoke my bed had an indent of a person but no person to fill it. Jack had gone again! I sat up and instantly started balling, I didn't know what to do or what think, but I knew that I was devastated. Through my sobbing sounds, I heard a faint voice coming from the doorway saying "did you sleep well?" I lifted my head slowly to which my eyes saw Jack once again! He didn't leave me, he stayed! "Don't worry, I won't leave you again." Jack said while to hugging me, tighter than he had ever before, but while slightly moaning due to his injury. "How, how is your wound? It looked pretty bad." I said to Jack after our hug. Jack kinda of shook his head and looked irritated that I even asked that question, breathed in, let out a big sigh and said "It still hurts but I'll live." I knew Jack was touchy about the subject but I was worried about him, so I had to ask. "Anyway, Bruce Wayne is throwing a party for Gotham's White Knight Harvey Dent, tonight and everyone is going to be there. I need to go to get Batman to show everyone in Gotham his true identity, but now that I'm hurt I can't go alone." Jack said. I had never smiled so much, Jack actually needed MY help! That night me and Jack ready to "go" to Bruce Wayne's party, we took Jack's form of transportation with was an old party semi that had the words "Laughter is the best medicine" written on it except Jack had added an 'S' to laughter to which it then read, "Slaughter is the best medicine." I had never killed anyone, so I wouldn't know which was the best medicine, but I do know I love and trust Jack so I just trusted his judgment on this one. When the night hour struck midnight me and Jack left for the party, I hoped in the front seat and we took off. While we were driving I quickly glimpsed at the back of the semi. Jack had machine guns, bazookas, silenced pistols, heavy shotguns, knives and over 100 boxes of ammo in the back of that semi. I guess this isn't what I pictured when Jack said he wanted to get Batman to show his true identity. I swallowed my fears as deep down as I could, but I was so scared because I had never done anything like this. My whole life I've just been the shy quite boy in the corner that everyone would make fun of. Now I'm just supposed to forget my old identity and instantly become a completely different one? I then lifted up my head, looked at Jack and said "are you sure this is a good idea?"
