Loneliness.

That was the only thing Diana had felt during half her childhood, since her father got sick.

Before she started her studies at Hogwarts, so many kilometres away from Bulgaria, she had spent her whole life alone, inside the huge Manor. She didn't even go to a primary school before she received the letter, like everybody had done; instead, her mother had educated her at home, in the gigantic library they owned. And it had made some effect that her mother was the least comprehensive person in the world, since she made her take exams from a very young age and didn't hesitate when making her fail, which was frequent: she never failed an exam after the one she failed when she was eight.

She soon realised that she had no one to talk to. Her brother was usually out because of Quidditch, her father was ill, and her mother was the coldest, least affectionate woman she had never met. She had nobody to have fun with, nobody but herself.

Which, until she arrived at Hogwarts, had always been enough for her.

All of a sudden, everyone paid her attention for being Viktor Krum's sister. She made friends really quickly, and met Ginny Weasley at the beginning of her second year.

They had been best friends almost from the moment they saw each other. They had the same likes and dislikes, they were really popular, and they both were on Gryffindor, which only increased the possibilities of seeing each other almost everywhere. The only thing they didn't agree on was Harry Potter.

Of course, Ginny had fallen in love with the one and only Harry Potter. She knew every single detail about him, as she had told Diana when they were twelve and eleven, but was too shy to go and talk to him.

So, on February 14th, 1993, Ginny sent him a magical letter with a poem that she and Diana had written together. But when Harry opened it in front of everyone, his reaction wasn't the one the girls had planned on. He looked ashamed, almost angry. Ungrateful. Of course, he was famous, and most girls wanted to date him, but Diana thought that he was very full of himself.

If she had to recall one of the moments when she decided how much she hated him, that would be the key one.

Ginny became really silent the weeks after that. She barely spoke to anyone, not even to Diana, she skipped meals and wouldn't let her into her dorm, as if scared of her discovering something secret. Little did Diana know, that was due to Tom Riddle's Diary.

Meanwhile, Diana was living her best months there at Hogwarts, away from Bulgaria and her worries. That year, she hadn't even had to go home for Christmas, as the Weasleys invited her thanks to Ginny. That was when she met Fred and George Weasley, who now were an essential part of her life.
