Closure
Feeling for the first time in... he'd lost count. He thought it'd been at least 3 years since he last felt an emotion? The days start to blur together after a while... Hugging her back with all that he was, he just flat out told her: "I thought I'd need to die to hear you say that. Hence the whole suicide mission with the Set Animal." He said, his mood improving with nothing but one little sentence.
They broke apart and she placed her hands on his shoulders, and extended her arms, looking him straight in the eye. "Look at me." She said. "I can't... it hurts. I hate it. You know... I never told anyone this. I left that 90% of my soul outside my body. I didn't want it anymore... and my heart, I locked that in a box and gave it to Anubis for safeguarding. The only things left keeping me alive right now are my mind and my body."
He hoped the truth wouldn't ruin the moment. Taking a deep breath, the Olympian told him: "Listen, Billy. I can't fix your mistakes. But I can try to help you move forward, okay?" She said, looking at him with concern. He forced himself to look at her; the woman who's Secret Name, for all intents and purposes, broke his psyche. Bit off more than I could chew with the Seventh Olympian, that's for damn sure.
"Yeah, you did, but I'm still here aren't I?" She said, rapidly and easily picking up the rapport that humans with shine tended to have. [Stephen King understands it way better than George Lucas ever did; he called it shine instead of the force, the ancient hindis called it brahma, although that term only parallels the force, the shine is too distinctly different to be called synonymous with brahma] Billy wanted to agree. He wanted for her to be real so bad. But he just didn't have that kind of faith in anything. Not even himself. I wish I could just shake your hand. What many didn't realize and what few knew, was that the Kid Lich's greatest, deepest, darkest, truest desire, above all other things across the multiverse, was to shake the hand of the Seventh Olympian.
That was it. Not money. Not power. Not even a family or just a generically successful life. Just one handshake. That's all it would take. Everything he'd wanted for so long with all he was would just be... solved. With one simple little gesture. Billy, beginning to space out and maybe even pass out, fell asleep in her arms.
"Sleep well, champion. We're going to need you." Artemis said to him. End of Pt. 1
