I round the corner, only to come up with nothing except a destroyed bedroom. Clothes are flung everywhere, dresser drawers are open and some of them are detached from the dressers themselves. Slowly, I turn and check the corners of the rooms like I see in all of the movies to make sure that no killer is hiding there.

My heartbeat inclines by the second and I'm sure it's going to give out if it keeps beating this fast.

I tip-toe across the room towards the en-suite bathroom, not hearing anything except the crazy thoughts of my head.

Before I reach the bathroom, a tall figure steps out, coming face to face with me. I instinctively hold up my gun.

"Maddie." His voice sounds broken. Kian raises his arms in a surrendering motion. I don't lower my gun. I look frantically around the room and then back to Kian.

You'd think after not seeing him for two months that I would jump into his arms and cry because I missed him. That's the last thing I want to do.

"Maddie put the gun down," Kian tells me, his voice softer. When I look into his bloodshot eyes, I see a sense of pleading. Why are his eyes bloodshot? Has he been crying?

I hadn't really realized that I was still pointing the gun straight at his chest. I also hadn't realized that tears were now steadily streaming down my face until I felt one hit my shirt.

My hands shake but for some reason I don't move them from where they hold the gun. I just keep staring at Kian with confusion, hurt, and a little yearning.

Kian takes a step forward, keeping his hands held up. Slowly, he moves around the side so that the gun doesn't point at him. He gets closer to me but I still look straight, my eyes trained on where Kian used to stand.

"Madison," Kian whispers, stepping so close that we're almost touching. He reaches out slowly and puts one hand on top of the gun, the other on my back. Slowly, he pushes the gun lower before taking it in his hand and removing it from mine.

I shake and eventually, I can't handle standing up, so I collapse.

Kian catches me, lowering me to the ground on top of him.

"No!" I whimper, pushing on him. He doesn't let me go.

"Maddie, listen-"

"No!" I screech. "I hate you! Leave me alone!" I push on him harder pushing my fists into his chest and abdomen. When he doesn't release me, I try shoving more forcefully, tears spilling quickly over my eyes.

"I know," he replies softly into my ear, rocking me in his arms. "Shhh..."

I keep hitting him and whimpering words to him, but he doesn't let go of me. He coos into my ear the whole time but it doesn't help. Everything is catching up to me now and I can't seem to control it.

Eventually I get tired of trying to get away from Kian so I stay in his arms, sobbing into his shoulder before I eventually face to sleep.
