As my eyes begin to open, light invades my sight and blurs everything. All I can see is white, and at first I thought that meant I was dead. But as soon as my eyes adjusted and focused, I was able to see I was laying down in a bed. I look around, my eyes landing on a handsome boy in front of me.

Maybe I am in Heaven.

He looks at me with worry etched all over his face, his eyes moving back and forth rapidly across my face. I take in his dark eyes as he does this, along with every other feature of his face.

"Madison?" He says, staring right at me.

I look around the room, trying to confirm that he's talking to me. In the process of searching the room, I see machines with weird numbers on it and one with a green squiggly line.

Wait. I look around some more to examine the stale quality of my surroundings and how they aren't familiar at all except I know exactly where I am.

I panic, looking down at my arm to see a needle sticking into it, a tube full of clear liquid running down and up to a bag next to the bed I am laying in. My breathing is faster and I reach for the needle, desperate to rip it out.

"No. No, stop it, Maddie," the boy says. "You're fine." He reaches out and grabs my arm and pulls it away from the needle. He pins it back and keeps his hold. Something about his touch is so familiar.

I glare at him as he uses his other hand to reach up and tuck a piece of hair behind my ear. Automatically, I turn my face into his palm. Why did I do that?

A smile forms on his face and he shows off his white teeth. As he pulls his hand away, I notice a gold band on his left hand. I scrunch my eyebrows together. He's married. Dammit.

"What's wrong, Maddie?" He asks me. I slightly turn away from him and reach up with my left hand to brush a stray piece of hair out of my face.

In this process a glint catches my eye. I pull my hand away from my face and examine my hand.

"Are you in any pain?" He speaks again. I don't pay any attention to him as I check out my hand. A small gold band is also snugly wrapped around my ring finger. Mine has diamonds encrusted into it.

I stare at it for a few seconds before my mind does a relay and everything begins to make sense.

Memories flood my mind and I am a bit overwhelmed to be honest.

"Dude who'd we hit?" I hear a voice say from behind Sam.

I crane my neck to see behind him and see a tall boy jogging up behind him.

"Oh, this is Madison, she's new," Sam informs this guy.

"Oh hi. I'm Kian," the boy says. He has brown hair in a semi-quiff style and he has a broad smile. I can't really see his eyes either. But I can see his earring that look similar to a pair I own.

"Kian, I-"

"I don't want to hear it," he says, trying to sound strong but his voice cracks a little. He pushes past me, aimed towards the door.

"Kian, just listen to me!" I say, following him and gripping his arm.

He turns to me, anger in his eyes at first.

"Maddie, I can't," he says, looking broken. His hand grabs both of mine, throwing them away from him.

It's in that moment when I realize that I've list him that I realize something else. I truly do love Kian, and I can't lose him.
