When the plane lands, I gratefully stand up when instructed and stretch my body out. Kian does the same, just less dramatically. The two of us grin at each other.
Eventually, we exit the plane and Kian calls the can service while I get the two of us some food. After the very long flight, we are both hungry and exhausted.
"So, what does our cabin look like?" I ask him as we step outside to get in the cab. The frigid air is definitely something I'll have to get used to, because otherwise I'll be miserable the whole time. As soon as the wind whips against my skin, chills take over my body in a painful way.
"You'll see," Kian teases as we rush to put our bags in the cab before we get in.
"Where can I take you?" The can driver asks, turning to look at us. I'm huddled up against Kian trying to share body warmth, and Kian's arm is wrapped around me. I look up at Kian, waiting expectantly for him to tell the can driver where we're headed to, because I have not a clue.
"Closest car rental place," Kian tells the man. The driver nods before he takes off.
"Okay, so we might have to go shopping first because I don't think I have enough warm clothing," I tell Kian, shivering against him.
"Yes you do," Kian replies, chuckling. "You just don't like the cold."
"But I need, like, five more jackets. The ones I have won't be enough," I whine, knowing that if I layer my clothes I'll be just fine, but still afraid that it won't be due to the extreme cold.
"If you really think so, but you won't be able to move if you wear that many," Kian warns playfully, pulling me closer to him.
"Better than not moving due to not wearing enough," I tell him as I snuggle into is side.
"True." Kian nods.
Soon, the cab pulls into a parking lot of a car rental company. Kian pays him and we get our bags before Kian and I enter the building to rent a car for our stay. After consulting me and asking me what I want, Kian and I decide on a white Buick Lacrosse. After we put our bags in the back, we get in and Kian types am address into the built in GPS before we are on our way.
The car stays in a comfortable silence for most of the ride. When Kian turns off of the main road and onto a small, windy road, I start asking questions.
"So what are your plans?" I ask Kian, finally questioning the schedule. I had no say in it and I was told nothing and it had been eating me away.
"Well we're gonna go skiing," he tells me, a smirk on his face.
"Wheres the snow then?" I ask him, not seeing any around.
"Not here," he says. "I knew you wouldn't want to always be around snow so we will be traveling about an hour to our ski resort when we go."
"Oh, don't act like you like snow any more than I do. At least I grew up around it! You've lived in Cali you're entire life!" I exclaim, laughing at the two of us.
"Okay, okay. You caught me," he says as he turns on his blinker and turns onto a gravel driveway.
I'm attentive, focusing on the surroundings. Full wintergreen trees line the sides of the gravel road as the road winds back and forth, up and down.
The only noises I hear are the crunching of the tires against the gravel and our breaths as we take in the scenery. It's so different than what I'm used to and it's amazing.
Finally, the car rolls up in front of a large, elegant cabin-style house. It's absolutely breathtaking.
The cabin appears to be two stories, the windows on the top floor looking frosted. The exterior of the bottom floor is stone-covered, the rest finished wood. There is a balcony that surrounds the top floor, a glass door leading to the inside.
"It's beautiful," I say in a very quiet voice, still admiring the beautiful cabin and scenery.
"I'm glad you like it," Kian says to me, leaning over and kissing my check before turning the car off and exiting the car.
Kian and I get our bags before entering the cabin, which is even more beautiful on the inside.
"This is incredible! You picked this out?" I ask Kian, setting down my suitcases as he does the same. I walk over to him and he slides an arm around my waist.
"Yes I did," he replies, smiling
to himself. The inside is cozy, warm colors decorating the entire place. Immediately I see the kitchen and living room. The kitchen has ample space for me to cook the two of us large meals and the living room could hold more than ten people, a large flat screen mounted on one wall.
"How about...we go check out the bedroom and see if it's..." Kian starts, turning to me and placing his hands on my hips, pulling me to him. "Suitable."
With a wink from Kian, I grab his hand quickly and lead him up the stairs, eager to find the bedroom even though I have no idea where I'm going.
