After Work

I walked to my car and got in sitting in the driver's seat for a moment. I was taking a quick break from moving around, I just needed a breath. As I sat in my seat and scrolled through my music playlist someone knocked on my window. I looked up to see Derek standing there looking at me through the window. I rolled down the window with a smile pasted on my face.

"Hi." I said with a ridiculous smile, excited to see him.

"Hey." He responded with an equally ridiculous smile. "Where are you going?"

"Just to get some of those other groceries we need, and I needed to fill up my gas tank, and I needed to go to the high school and grab some of my stuff, and we need to pick up Lexi from soccer practice."

"Oh, Can I go with you?"

"Yes of course! do you want to go inside and set your stuff down?"

"Yeah If we have time."

"We have plenty of time, I'll be out here waiting."

"Alright, I'll be right back." He turned around and took a few steps before he turned around, "Right after I do this." He came up to the car window and lifted my face to his giving me a passionate kiss on the lips. 

I leaned into the kiss as much as possible, loving the way his lips felt against mine. I smiled against his lips then put my hands on the side of his face pulling him closer to me. I brushed my hand through his hair before breaking the kiss knowing we had stuff to get done. I rested my forehead against his.

"I could kiss you forever but we have things to get done." I said in a breathy tone.

"I know." he replied back. 

He stepped away from the car and continued to make his way to the apartment doors. I watched him walk inside than out of my sight. I sighed then sat back in my seat once more going on my phone to scroll through Instagram. I had been scrolling for a while before I came across a video about the person who put the group of serial kidnappers in jail. 

It was a woman interviewing one of the men taken down that day. 

"You and your crew went on for two years kidnapping over 20 women without getting caught, what changed?" The interviewer asked.

"This wasn't no ordinary girl, she was extremely smart, strong, and resourceful. She had some type of abilities there is no way she could have done the things she did if she was just an average everyday girl." He replied.

"So you're saying a teenage girl who had some sort of abilities was able to take down you guys?"

"We've taken many women, some with major combat experience but this girl was different."

The interviewer paused for a minute, she seemed to be contemplating everything that the man had said. She looked clearly confused about what he had said, I mean can you blame her, this guy was speaking utter nonsense. She looked back at the camera and said, "There you have it folks a teenage girl with some sort of abilities is why these mass kidnappers have been caught."

The video ended and I went through the comments reading what everyone was saying about this.

Don't get me wrong I'm more than happy these guys have been caught, but all this stuff about a teenage girl being the reason they've been caught just doesn't make sense to me. How could a young girl half their size take them down?
