Kirito went to go find Sinon and I was sitting on a stone ledge. This was actually a pretty great place for a base of operations, considering the fact that there were stone ledges around that were a suitable substitute for chairs and a flat-topped boulder for a table.
We had a map on the table. It was a digital map and it showed us the locations of the other members in our group. Me and Asuna were leaning over the table on opposite sides of it. If an enemy gets too close to a member of our squad, we're alerted by a red triangle with a yellow exclamation mark in the middle. Pretty sweet.
Suddenly, we saw it. The exclamation that an enemy was nearby.
Kirito was almost to Sinon but something (No... no, someone not something... right?)
We contacted Kirito, alerting him of the situation.
Me: Hey Kirito.
Kirito: Yo.
Me: You've got company there.
Kirito: Really?
Me: Yeah. Be careful. They aren't far behind.
Kirito: Will do.
"Do we stay here or do we go to them?" I asked.
"I think one of us should probably stay here and one of us should go there," Asuna answered.
"Sounds reasonable. You're the fastest, you should probably go. I'll stay here and keep tabs on this shit," I said.
"Sounds good."
Asuna left the cave, leaving me there alone.
The exclamation marks are where other nearby players are, so I can keep tabs on all the nearby players.
I contacted Asuna.
Me: One of the players seems to have noticed you approaching. They've changed course.
Asuna: Okay.
Me: Be careful.
I hang up and continued to keep tabs on the enemies. Three of them were still going for Kirito and one was going for Asuna.
I contacted Kirito.
Me: There are three going for you.
Kirito: Really?
Me: Yeah, try to stay out of battle until Asuna gets to you.
Kirito: Asuna's coming?
Me: Yeah, I sent her out. I'm watching out for all three of you.
Kirito: Alright.
As soon as I hung up, I noticed a different team of three players closing in one Sinon.
WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!? I screamed in my mind. This is like those shitheads that double team in games that aren't even fucking virtual reality.
I decided it would be best to IMMEDIATELY contact Sinon because her, Kirito and Asuna were about to be in a crossfire between two teams.
Me: SINON!
Sinon: What is it?
Me: Two full teams are coming for you. Kirito and Asuna are coming.
Sinon: Two full teams?!
Me: Yes. Be very cautious. They found your location because of the scan and are probably attempting to get you because you're solo right now. Be careful.
Sinon: Will do.
I stared at the map until the three of them met up. I then contacted all three of them at the same time.
Me: Be careful you three.
Asuna: Sure.
Kirito: Will do.
Sinon: Okay.
Me: I'll head out.
I hung up the call and almost immediately left the cave. I would've been alerted if there were any nearby players. There wasn't so I could leave without any trouble.
Even so, I still looked around up top for a little while before leaving.
I started sprinting at full pelt towards where Kirito, Asuna and Sinon had grouped up.
One of the people was aiming a sniper at Kirito when he didn't notice and I swept through, slicing off his head with my light sword. Particles flew up into the air and a message appeared above his body. Dead, it said with a skull emoji beside it. I jumped down into the clearing where the other three were.
This was going to get DAMN interesting.
