"Gem! Come on! It's one outfit! And you're not even going to be making it yourself. You'll be assisting a young aspiring woman." Kass argued.
She and her friends were currently sprawled across the living room at Em's condo day-drinking. She had just finished dropping Tules off with Nev and was summoned straight away to the she-den.
"Gem, you're the only fashion designer out of us all," Kacc pointed out. She was an esthetician. "And you're sooo good! People are recognizing your name everywhere. Gemini Kang- fashion designer. And how cool would it be for Tules?" She clicked her nails together, making Em grumble from underneath her pile of blankets.
"You do owe her for picking up Rollo from that horrible doggy spa," Arti, the florist, said quietly from her seat on the chaise.
"Fine! Let Nev know she can bring her to the office anytime next week and give her my number to contact me directly. Those assistants are good for shit all." Gem grumbled.
Kass grinned and Kacc shot her a wink. Flattery and bribery were effective when dealing with Gem.
"Alright, that's done. Now what's this I heard about you going to the aquarium with Kody?" Em asked, flinging a blanket off herself to stare at her friend.
"Um, what?" Gem said.
"Fucking excuse me?!" Kacc exclaimed. "What the fuck?"
"How do you even know?" Kass demanded.
Arti shrugged her shoulders in the corner of the room and timidly raised her hand. "Spade told me and I accidentally told Em. I'm sorry!"
"Okay, okay, okay. Settle down, you guys. I didn't go with him. I took Tules and he was there with Darwin."
"He met Tules?" Gem shrieked. "And?!"
"And nothing! It was fine. We talked a little bit. Nothing really significant and then I went to pick up Rollo."
"That's where you were when I called?" Gem sighed. "Man, you think you know a gal."
"Well I was at his house..." Kass admitted. That confession started a new wave of questions. "It's not like we slept together. The kids wanted to build robots. And like I said, nothing significant happened."
"So you guys didn't talk about... You know, what happened? Before you left?" Kacc inquired.
"No. And we won't." Kass shot her friend a glare. "I don't want him to know."
"He knows something happened," Arti said.
"Yah, but not what." Em reminded them with a snort. "Someone top me up." She waved her empty glass in the air and Arti dutifully refilled it for her.
"How many days do you plan on being drunk?" Gem asked her.
Em was currently flipping her ponytail so that her hair fell into her eyes. She stayed like that, still under the blankets like a drunk bear in hibernation.
"Until my next job. I have a make-up gig for a wedding on the weekend and a bunch of hair appointments all next week." Em said matter-of-factly. "Wedding's open bar, so long as my job is done I can drink myself into a coma."
Kacc snickered from the couch. "Just don't sleep with the groom."
Kass almost choked on her drink. "Damn, Kacc. Could you be any more blunt?"
"No. This is who I am. The bluntest. Call me The Bluntness." Kacc waved her hand in the air like a queen causing the girls to squeal in a fit of laughter.
