Forcing herself to wake up the next day was hard for Dani.
Not because she was tired or she didn't want to leave her soft, warm, covers. Not because she was in some sort of trouble and if she went downstairs, she'd be scolded. Not even because she was mad at Henry for whatever reason!
No Dani's problems were much bigger than her blankets or a scolding. Her problems came in a tale blonde female form. Her problems had a name. Emma.
And she so did not want to face that problem today. Unfortunately, if she knew her twin at all, he would have already planned a way to sneak around their mothers' rules to find her. That meant the second she left her safe, warm, furry blankets and got dressed, she'd have to go along with whatever scheme he'd come up with.
All to protect that stupid dork.
Growling, Dani decided to rip the band aid off and flung her covers from her body. Sitting up with a shiver, she glared at her ceiling as if it had personally offended her, before finally leaving her bed to go take a shower. While thinking about clothes for the day, Dani got an idea.
Her mom had taught her that what you wore sent a message. Like how a person wearing a suit sent a very different message then someone wearing shorts and a crop top. How some clothes that made you confident could help make you seen. While others could help you hide. And Dani knew just what she wanted her clothes to say today. Smirking as she unhooked her red pencil skirt from its hanger, Dani began to get dressed.
By the time she was done and standing in her mirror Dani looked as if her clothes had been handpicked by the mayor herself. With an apple red pencil skirt that brushed her knees every time she moved, along with a beautiful white, collar shirt with sleeves that were just slightly puffed up. To finish it off Dani had pulled out her black shoulder bag with a golden apple clasp, pulled her hair into a tight bun to show off her pearl earrings, and slipped on her black pumps.
She hoped this look said to Emma everything she couldn't say in front of Henry. That while Dani may be there, she was not on Emma's side. She never would be. Her mom was who she supported, always and forever.
After popping on some chap stick, Dani nodded at her reflection one more time the turned sharply on one heel, heading towards Henry's room. He had probably forgotten about volunteer day today with everything going on yesterday, he was probably still asleep, and Dani hated being late.
Not bothering to knock, knowing that if he was asleep, he wouldn't answer anyway, Dani barged right in. Striding straight to his bed, almost tripping on the comic books he had strown about, Dani began gently trying to wake him up.
" Henry, it's time to get up. " She said as she shook his shoulder gently.
When she got no answer besides more mumbling she tried again, a bit rougher. " Henry, wake up. "
When even her rougher shaking got nothing but mumbles from him, and Dani looked at the clock to see that if he didn't get up now, they wouldn't have time for breakfast, she decided she was done with doing this the nice way. Food was more important to her then the pouting that Henry would pull anyway. Shrugging her shoulders and taking a big step back, knowing how this usually went, Dani yanked the covers off of him.
Henry shot off the bed, hands already trying to get his covers back. Smirking and letting out a twinkling laugh, Dani ran out of the room, thanking her mom for all those high heel lessons as she went. As Henry gave chase, Regina stepped out of her bedroom with a raised eyebrow.
" Dani, we talked about this! If you have to wake him, wake him nicely! " She called down the hallway as her children passed her.
" I tried. " Dani started with a whine. " But he wouldn't wake up fast enough and I was hungry! "
