Waking up the day after the caves incident, Dani knew that some things had fundemintntly changed within her. Had shifted to place a few things into perceptive.First was Jade. Sweet, wonderful, amazing Jade who snuck out at great risk to herself, just to be by Dani's side. The same Jade who should never have had to sneak out in the first place. It was time to put more effort into getting the girl away from her Grandmother, permintaly.
Second, Henry had been in danger beyond anything the two had ever faced before, and Dani had been able to do nothing about it. Dani who had this strange new power flowing through her veins and visions flashing through her mind. No, that wouldn't do at all. She needed to lern how to contol this.
Third, the curse needed to break. Henry was never going to stop untill it did. He would do anything, put himself in any danger. So the curse had to go, even if the thought of that big of a change scared her. And to do that, she needed Emma.
It was a sad thing to reliaze that she needed the woman who had given her up. But Dani wasn't one to dwell on things for long once she came to a certain type of conclusion. And so, with that thought in mind, the girl pulled her self up from bed, got dressed and headed towards the woods to pratice her new found power.
The girl had come prepared, bringing with her a list of magic she had read about in their book. The list had anything she could perform without being in the enchanted forest. Now all that was left was to test out what she could, seeing as some things required another human.
When Dani got to the edge of the woods, right past the tree line, she figured this was a good a time as any. And so, kneeling down, the girl took a deep breath in and out. Placing her hand on the forest floor, she could almost feel the energy radiating out from below her. It was dark, almost like that buzz you feel when you are about to do something you know you shouldn't. And she hadn't even started yet.
Biting her lip, Dani slowly took another deep breath in. This time however, with her hand firmly on the ground and the energy buzzing beneath her, she could feel the pull that her very breathing caused. Wide brown eyes looked down at her hand, before she steeled herself and began to tug.
Immediatly the energy answered her call, rolling upwards without the slightest bit of hesitation. Yet as it got closer, a vile feeling rose up Dani's spine. She could feel the energy clearer now that it was getting closer to the surface. Could feel all the blood and tears that went into making this magic.
It almost made her draw back, almost. But then she thought of Henry and how much this could help them. A fierce sort of determination swelled up inside her, making Dani pull harder on the energy swirling below the surface until the first few whisps started licking the palm of her hand.
Dani looked down again when she felt the touch of smoke on her skin, her eyes wideing at the sight before her. Black mist was seeping out of the ground in a small circle around her hand, buring the grass as it escaped. It swam in the air for just a moment, before sinking beneath her skin. The same hand now had a neon green painting the tips of her fingers, fading into the veins that seemed to pulse in time with the power she was consuming.
The curse. . . She realized with her head turning slightly fuzzy from the magic flooding her system. That was the same color as the curse.
As her head began to swim, Dani faintly reconized the need to remove her hand from the ground. Some part of her screaming that it was dangerous to let the magic keep flooding her system when she wasn't used to it. Somehow, she managed to listen to that part of her, ripping her hand from the ground as she fell backwards panting.
Unseen to her the black smoke simply seeped back beneath the surface, as if it had never been there in the first place.
It took Dani several moments of just stareing at the green of the leaves above her to come back to herself completly. Blinking, Dani slowly sat up, stareing at her now normal hands in shock. Did that really just happen?
