July 20th || The Mall
It was officially summer. Throughout the summer you traveled with the choir and quit majorette. Then you quit choir because you didn't want to do that anymore. You kind of ignored Bokuto because you didn't want him to distract you from your goal, which was to glow up and gain confidence.
You, your friends, and your mom were at the mall shopping for school. You went into the mall stressing, but you let all that go once you got into the store. You got whatever you want off the racks without thinking of how it'd make your body look. You took it off the rack because you wanted it.
"It's giving!" Destiny said excitedly as you came out of the dressing room. "Awww my baby." Your mom smiled at you. "Thank you guys." You had a huge smile on your face as you looked in the mirrors feeling confident in what you tried on. "All them boys gon want you." Jaylani said sticking her tongue out. "I don't know about all of them but at least two." You say. "No, all of them." Ava says. "Let me humble myself." You went back into the dressing room. "We're still gonna make your head big." Kaden told you. "Stoppp." You groaned as you got some jeans to put on.
"Ava I need help!" You yelled for her. "What are you putting on?" She asked. "Jeans..." you said. "This is why we wear stretchy jeans." She came into the dressing room and helped pull your jeans up. "Oh nah, these are way too tight." You started to button them. "Squat." Ava told you. "I can't, they're gonna rip." You say barely being able to walk. "You want a bigger size?" She asked. "No, imma just find some other ones. Or I could order some." You say. "Next fit." She went out of the dressing room.
Outfit after outfit you walked out of the store with two big bags of clothes. Your friends also brought clothes. Next it was on to the shoes. You got one pair of shoes since your dad already bought you three pairs the weekend before. "I'm tapped out, you already got your nails, hair, and lashes done. I'm tapped." Your mom says. "Thank you mama!" You smiled and hugged her. "I'm so ready for school!" Your friends all started talking about how excited you guys were for high school.
Home|| 4pm
After the mall your friends came over to your house to hang out, but when you got there Bokuto was standing at the door. "Ooooooooh!" All your friends giggled and went into the house. You tried to go with them, but your mom pushed you out. "Talk to him." She whispered. "Ma..." You groaned as she closed the door in your face.
"Hey, Bo..." You looked up at him. He'd gotten taller, maybe he was about 6 foot. "Hey y/n." He says. "What are you doing here?" You asked him. "To check on you, since you've been ignoring me all summer." He leaned against the window. "Oh-" you start but he interrupted. "Y/n, what did I do for you to ignore me the rest of 8th grade and the whole summer?" He looked at you. "You didn't do anything, I just didn't want any distractions." You say.
"Well you should've said something." He said kind of aggressively. "What are you mad at me for?" You looked at him. "Because you fucking ignored me for like 9 months." He said. "Friends don't do that." He looked you in your eye. "Well you weren't really a friend." You say. "Oh, okay then." He shrugged and started walking off. "Bo, wait." You grabbed his arm. "Obviously you're something to me, but I don't consider you a friend." You tell him. "Well what am I to you?" He asked. "I don't know. We were friends but then you told me you liked me and I don't know how I feel." You say. "How? You had 9 months." He said. "I don't know." You let him go. "Just say you don't feel the same way, so I can move on." He says. "I can't." You say. "Well I'll say it for you." He took one more look at you and then walked away.
You sighed and went into the house. You went upstairs to your room feeling a tightness in your throat. "How'd it go?" Your mom asked. "I'll tell you guys later." You said before you gently shut your room door. You just sat on your bed. You didn't know if you should cry or be unbothered. I mean you didn't show Bokuto you had feelings for him, but you didn't know if you liked him. You never liked anyone before, how were you supposed to know that you had feelings for him.
You came out of the room. "Sooooo?" Jaylani said sitting crisscross on the floor. "So, what had happened was..." you told them about the whole conversation. "Y/n we been knew you liked him." Kaden said eating popcorn. "Exactlyyy, but you didn't know you liked him." Destiny said sharing the popcorn with her. "I think you should give it time. Try to find someone else, and if it doesn't work out go back to him." Your mom says. "I guess." You shrugged."I think we should just forget about him until August." Ava said. "Agreed!" Everyone else said. "Alright then." You smiled as you guys started the movie.
Midway through the movie your mom got a text. "I'll be right back y'all." She got up and put her slides on. "Okay!" You all say.
Outside|| 5:56 pm.
"Jonathan?" Your mom came out of the house and saw your dad's tall figure. "Hey Trinity." He sounded like he just sobbed. "Aw, what's wrong?" She pulled him into a hug. "My wife cheated on me..." He sniffles into her shoulder hugging her. "That bitch-, I mean I'm sorry Jon." She rubbed his back trying not to feel angry about the situation. "I just needed some comfort right now and you the only person I felt like calling." He felt her embrace. "That's sweet, but like I said you can always call me." She kept rubbing his back.
"I know, I'm sorry I don't call often." He looked down at her. "It's cool. She got pissed at you for calling me, so I understand." She looked back up at him. "Yeah..." he sighed. "Now that I think about it, she wasn't a good person at all." He admitted. "You got distracted by her big ole plastic ass, didn't you?" She laughed. "Maybe. You a trip." He laughed. "Come on, so I can make you some food." She let him into the restaurant.
He sat down at a table while she warmed up some leftovers from yesterday. Then she warmed him up some peach cobbler, which was his favorite. "You ain't have to bring out the peach cobbler." He smiled with his signature gold grills at the bottom. "You put your grills in to see me?" She pushed his head. "Maybe, I ain't wanna come here looking crazy." He laughed. "Boy, you don't never look crazy. You always got a fade, clean nails, you just a clean ass dude always." Trinity looked him in his eyes. "Thank you." Jon said looking down at his food since he made her shy. "Eat up." She slapped the back of his neck gently then went back upstairs.
When she came back up the movie was done. All the girls were crying because they were watching five feet apart. "Damn, I missed it." She said and went to get everyone some Kleenex and eye drops. "That's so sad." Ava cried holding you. "For real." You cried hugging her as well. Your mom passed around tissues. "If you need eye drops they're on the coffee table." She said and went back downstairs.
"Dramatic, I swear." Trinity went back downstairs and Jon absolutely destroyed his plate. "Damnnnn! She don't feed you?" Trin took his plate. "No, she on some vegan shit. She completely banned meat or anything at the house, so when y/n comes over we always go to a restaurant." He says. "You need to come over more often then." She sat across from him. "I will, since I'm selling that house and getting a divorce." He says. "Why you selling the house?" Trin asked him. "I don't want the bad memories attached to my own bedroom." He shrugged. "Well if you need somewhere to stay you can stay here. I'm not gonna lie and say I didn't miss you because I did." She sighed. "I missed you too." he took her hand into his.
"Bye, guys." You came downstairs with your friends hugging them quickly as they went out the door. "Don't I have to drop them off?" Your mom asked you. "No- why's dad here?" You asked. "I don't get a 'hey dad', 'I missed you' come here." He stood up and hugged you. You hugged him back. "What's going on?" You looked suspiciously at your mom while hugging him. "I might be living here, since I'm selling my house." He said excitedly. "You're getting a divorce?" You started smiling. "Yeah, she cheated on me." He shrugged. "Aww, dad." You hugged him tighter. "I'm alright, thanks to your mom's peach cobbler." You let go of him and all three of you were just smiling and happy. You thought for sure your parents would get back together again.
