"who was at the door?", jungwon asked once his sister returned.
"delivery. i ordered a few things.", yerin lied, shrugging her shoulders.
jungwon nodded carelessly: "i finished making most of the pancakes. can you do the rest? i'm going to wash up quickly." "sure!"
———
jay was driving around on his motorbike, trying to clear his mind a little bit. to be honest, the more time is passing the more he regretted his decision he made at the festival.
why did i even do it in the first place? i like her, too.
arriving at home again, jay found the boys in the living room, playing games again. "i'm back!", he shouted as he entered. "hi there.", heeseung mumbled while he looked on his phone screen, "how did it go?"
"what do you think?"
"honestly, it's all on you why she acts like that.", sunoo shrugged his shoulders, "what were you thinking?" "i honestly don't know!", jay yelled frustratedly, "it seemed right to me in that moment. maybe i wanted to confess first, maybe it's because i will leave soon anyway!"
"you what?", sunghoon gasped and looked at his friend with a shocked face.
"what do you mean you're leaving?", ni-ki asked.
jay ran his hand through his hair as he sighed: "my parents want me in the states again. my dad thinks it would be great to have his son around, guess he's going to prepare me for taking over his company soon. even i don't know how to feel right now."
"leaving yerin in korea and being in a long distance relationship wouldn't benefit any of us. being dependent on your partner who's miles away just seems useless. either i take her with me or we don't get together at all." jay chuckled lowly, "but who said she would accompany me to the states voluntarily? she should have her own life, with or without me."
another sigh left his mouth as he got up from the couch to get into his room again.
———
"thanks for spending time with me, jungwon. i really needed it.", yerin patted his shoulder, "there's still food left, pass it to the others, alright? sharing is caring!" the brother chuckled: "take care of yourself. see you tomorrow at school!"
both of them bid each other goodbye. but before yerin could finally close the door, she heard someone call her name.
did jungwon forget anything?
she looked around, only to see jake jogging towards her apartment. "hey! let me in, too!", he laughed.
yerin smiled and greeted him before she let him in. "what are you doing here? i don't remember you forgetting something here at my place." "i just wanted to make sure you're okay. did you have fun with jungwon today?"
"i did actually! we made pancakes and cooked dinner. do you want some? i have leftovers." "sure! i am excited to taste chef yerin's cooking!" he closed his eyes and fell onto the couch, sighing carelessly.
yerin quickly served him dinner and sat on one of the chairs. "how was your day?"
"i didn't do much. the usual: breakfast, working out, calling my parents for a moment.", jake answered and stuffed his mouth with the ramen she prepared. "that's great. my parents don't even want me to contact them.", yerin laughed it off.
"aye, don't say that. you know it's not true!"
"they're just busy. i feel like i'm interrupting something when i'm calling."
"text them, it's still a sign of affection!"
"i will. thank you!"
"by the way, i'd like to cheer you up!", jake suddenly offered. "what?"
"how about we do something together? we could go to the park, the city, the convenience store, anywhere you'd like."
"that's very nice, jake, but i don't know.""i don't want to sound rude, but you confessed, he rejected. the best thing you could do now is move on, you know?"
jay, 8:04
yerin, are you okay?
you haven't responded
to anyone today.jay, 8:05
im not in the right position
to come over, but i'm about to!
im really worried, please text
me if you have time.yerin looked at her phone screen and quickly turned it off. "you know what? you're right, we should go out together after school. should we go to the park? i'd love to do a little picnic.", she smiled at him.
"yes, we could do that. i'll prepare some food, make sure you wear something comfortable and pretty!", he replied, admiring her.
———
after dinner, jake decided to go home. he didn't want to bother yerin, even though she said it's alright.
once they bid each other goodbye, yerin made herself ready for bed. it's pretty late and i'm tired of everything.yerin, 10:47
i think it's time to move on.
see ya! :)
