"may i ask what you are doing here?"
jake and yerin might have entered the dorm pretty late last night, but she was still the first one to wake up in the morning and make herself coffee.
she turned around to see none other than jay, looking at her figure in surprise.
"morning.", was the only thing she mumbled tiredly as she grabbed her mug and put milk in it. "i asked you a question.", he sighed.
"and i greeted you."
"i want an answer to my question." "god, can you stop nagging? i am still one of the occupants, of course i am here drinking coffee and trying to become more conscious!"
"well, seems like jake and you had a lot of fun yesterday.", he uttered, pain visibly in his voice.
"well, it was a little picnic he prepared, nothing more, nothing less."
"if it's not anything more, why exactly are you wearing his shirt?", jay asked curiously while preparing hot chocolate for himself and the younger ones. "well, uhm.."
"don't tell me you two seriously hopped onto his bed right away."
"what the hell are you thinking? of course not! i simply forgot my pyjamas and needed to borrow one of his clothes!" yerin turned red due to jay's assumption, "i don't randomly hook up with guys, especially not with anyone in this dorm."
"never say never.", jay winked at her when he placed the mugs on the table, only to leave the kitchen after. yerin was stunned by jay's sudden confidence and cockiness. what happened to him?
scared the others might notice the unusual shirt too, yerin rapidly rushed up the stairs, right into her room to wear her uniform and make herself ready.
———
"yerin? are you okay?" jake poked her cheeks. the girl was clearly lost in her thoughts and didn't even dare to utter a word. she simply drank her coffee next to jake, thinking about what jay earlier. never say never?
"yah, yerin! how was your date yesterday?", sunghoon suddenly asked.
"huh? what?"
sunoo giggled: "jake must have taken the words out of your mouth! were you that surprised?" "i was! sunghoon arranged everything so prettily and the food was delicious! especially the cake!", yerin grinned. i came here to be surrounded by my loved ones again, not to drown in thoughts.
"woah! did you take pictures by any chance?", riki exclaimed. jake handed him his phone to let the younger one look at the pictures he took of yerin and himself yesterday. the others gathered around and stared at the screen in awe.
heeseung nodded: "they turned out pretty well. no wonder, you two look like a sweet couple already!" jay was furious, jealous. he didn't want to hear all that lovey dovey stuff anymore and decided to put his dishes in the dishwasher quickly.
"i'm leaving first, gotta pass a store real quick before school.", he simply announced before he grabbed his helmet and left. "pfff, jay doesn't seem to be quiet happy.", jungwon snickered and laughed.
sunoo only hit him lightly, signaling he should shut up. yerin watched the two of them precisely. something's going on.
"anyways!", jake exclaimed, "seems like he's in a conflict with himself at the moment, let's just let him be." the others nodded in agreement.
"if he needs something, he knows he can talk to us. let's just head to school, too.", heeseung cleaned up the table and demanded everyone to get ready. just when jake was about to ask yerin if she wanted to come with him, jungwon suddenly went in between: "sorry, bro. but i'll take her to school today if that's alright."
the other one showed a thumbs up: "see you two at school then!"
———
"don't you feel bad?" "what do you mean?", yerin frowned.
"i think jay is acting like that because of you."
"are you trying to put me on a guilt trip?"
"yerin, im just saying. it looks like you're suddenly jumping on jake only because your crush rejected you. jay must have had his reasons, right? have you ever thought about that?"
"what else am i supposed to do? cry over jay till school's is completely over? even when i have a job?" yerin threw the helmet she was wearing to her brother before taking off to the entrance of the school.
jungwon hurried to catch her: "god, wait! i didn't mean it like that!"
"don't forget that you don't have any control over my life. if jay doesn't want me and a friend wants to cheer me up, i seriously don't see a problem. does it bother you that that friend is jake?"
"yerin, you should listen to jay's point of view too. i know you lied about the delivery, i left my bag at the dorm on purpose so he had a reason to see you!"
"wow, that is a confession. i don't think there is a 'jay's point of view'. he explained his point of view during the rejection already, i think everything has been said." jungwon sighed heavily. if only i could tell her why jay did that.
"you finally arrived too!", jake joked as he put his arm around her shoulder.
"what did you expect? jungwon drives as safe as an old grandpa.", sunghoon chuckled as he dragged jungwon along with him.
jake noticed yerin's unusual silence. "are you okay? did anything happen?", he whispered when yerin simply shrugged it off.
"it's fine."
