"Happy birthday sister!" Thor bellows as he crashes into Eva's room. Her wings flash dark green as she jumps out of bed in a hurry before fading to light grey as she realises who is there. "Sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you. I'm just excited to celebrate your 1000th birthday." Thor then says as he notices the colour of his sister's wings. "It's fine big brother." Eva replies as she crawls back into the warmth of her bed. "Come on! You can't sleep any longer. We have a big day and Loki and I have arranged a surprise for you." Thor says, pulling the covers off her. "A surprise?" Eva asks with a huge grin, her wings glowing yellow with streaks of pale blue. "Yes, a surprise. It's not every day you turn the age of a millennia. Get dressed and meet us in the big hall." Thor says before leaving her to dress in peace.
Eva jumps off her bed and quite literally runs to her wardrobe. She pulls out a knee length dress with a hankerchief style skirt. The material is a soft pink colour with purple and blue flowers scattered across it. It has a low cut back so she can release her wings freely when she wants to. She lays it on her bed before walking to the bathroom and washing. As soon as she is dressed, she chooses a lilac pair of heels and uses her powers to lace some matching flowers into her long brown braids. Her style is different to the other women in Asguard. She hates the idea of corsets and long heavy dresses. She likes her style and would never change it for anyone.
As she is in the comfort of the palace, she doesn't feel the need to hide her wings, which are now showing more light blue with the yellow and a slight hint of white. She leaves her room and heads to the hall where Thor and Loki are waiting for her.
"Happy birthday little one." Loki says as she walks through the door. "Loki, you're only 70 years older than me. We're practically the same age." Eva huffs in reply as she accepts the hug her brother is offering her. "Whatever you say sister." Loki retorts with a smirk as they pull away from each other. "So, are you ready for your surprise?" Thor says from behind his brother, instantly making Eva's wings lose their yellow to be replaced with white. "There's no need to be nervous, dear sister. It's going to be fun." Loki reassures her as he guides her closer to Thor. "Loki and I have decided that since you're now of age, we're going to take you to Earth." Thor says excitedly.
Eva's jaw drops. She has been asking to go with them for years, now this is her chance. That's when her wings change to a mix of yellow, light blue, white, dark green, and purple. She notices the concerned face of her brothers and immediately hides her wings. Her cheeks blush and she looks down to her feet. She hates the fact that everyone can know how she's feeling, it's her least favourite thing about her wings. That's why she hides them.
"Eva, you don't need to hide your wings. We knew you would have mixed feelings. You don't need to be embarrassed." Loki says gently as he lifts her head to face him. "Sorry." She whispers in reply, not bringing her wings back out as they would be bright purple. "How long are we going to Earth for?" Eva asks sheepishly, hoping her excitement will return. "Well, time is different on Earth. 3 weeks on earth is about 3 months here." Loki explains. (AN~ I have no idea if that's right but I'm going with it anyway). "We're going for 3 months?" Eva exclaims, consumed by shock and excitement. "That's the plan, dear sister. We're going to be staying with our friends." Thor replies, his smile growing. "The avengers? But what if they don't like me? What if they hate my wings? I can't go. They're going to think I'm a freak." Eva starts to panic, her insecurities showing immensely.
Loki immediately pulls her into his chest. He has experienced this behaviour from her before, him being the only person she feels comfortable talking to. That's when he decided to help her controlling her powers. It's also how he learned to understand her emotions and which colour represented how she was feeling. They've been close ever since.
Thor looks to his brother with a confused expression. Unlike Loki, he has never seen his sister act this way before. He never realised how insecure she was about herself. He had just assumed she didn't like her emotions being on show all of the time. He never once thought that the daughter of Odin would worry about what people would think of her. Then again, he can understand where she was coming from. The avengers had never encountered someone like her before. No one had.
"Everything will be fine, Eva. I promise. I'll be right by your side the whole time. They will understand who you are and accept you no matter what." Loki says softly into her ear, gently rubbing her back. "You don't have to show them straight away, ok? We will explain to them what your powers are and if you feel comfortable you can show them. You have nothing to worry about." he then says, having heard her thoughts. "Ok." Eva replies quietly. "Right then, pack a bag. We're taking you on holiday." Thor cheers before leading them all out of their room.
