Spoken For (A One Direction FanFic)

Chapter 10.

*****HARRY'S POV*****

Virginia and I had been on three dates now. Tonight will be our fourth, but I want it to be special. I've talked it over with the boys, and they all agree that I should ask her to be my girlfriend.

"Do I look alright?" I asked the lads, who were gathered in the entertainment room. I've changed my shirt about ten times, trying to pick out a shirt I thought Virginia would like.

"Lad, you've asked us that so many times. She won't care what colour shirt you're wearing. All that matters is that you don't burp in your face. Again. " Louis always knows how to give a good pep talk.

"Hey! I'm not the one that burped in her face! That was Niall. And I remember because that was the same night that you lads decided to tag along on my date!" I argued back.

Ever since that first night, they hadn't shown up on our other two dates.

"Well, we wanted to meet her! We wouldn't have hijacked your date if you didn't talk so much about her." Liam protested, making a rather good point.

"I know, I know. I guess I may have exaggerated about her." I comply.

"Nah. You didn't exaggerate. She really is wonderful. We're glad you finally found someone that loves you back." Of course Zayn would be the one to bring that up. It's like he could never let it go.

"Look Zayn, you don't have to keep bringing up Lauren. She cheated on me and lied to me,and sure, it hurt. But without her doing that to me, I never would have met Virginia." I admit, the whole Lauren situation still stung a bit, but with Virginia around, I was forgetting about it all. My thoughts were interrupted by the annoying ringtone of my phone. Speak of the devil.

*Harry on the phone*

H: "What do you want Lauren?"

L: "Now, Harry, that's no way to talk to your opening act."

This could not be happening. Lauren being our new opening act?! I knew we were going to get someone fresh for our new world tour, but I didn't even know Lauren could sing.

H: "Do you mean to tell me that you're our new opening act? You have got to be kidding me."

L: "Better believe it babe. We get to travel the world together, and you'll be stuck with me!"

Shit. I was going to be STUCK WITH LAUREN. This is my worst nightmare.

H: "Does Jake (their tour manager) know about this?"

L: "Of course, who do you think I asked."

Unbelievable. Un-fucking-believable.

H: "Look, I gotta go Lauren. I've got a date with... Uh. Nevermind. I've just got to go to umm dinner with the lads. Bye. "

I didn't even wait for a reply from Lauren before quickly ending the call.

"Guys, that was Lauren. You're never going to believe this. Apparently, she's our new opening act, meaning we are stuck with her for the entire tour. And Jake even approved of it." I informed the boys. They all had disapproving looks on their faces, while Niall's face was pure hatred. If anyone was more upset about Lauren and I's breakup than me, that would be Niall. He is like the older brother I've always wanted. He despised Lauren from the second he found out what happened between us.

I ran to my bathroom, not paying any attention to Louis screaming after me to explain. My worried self kept messing with my hair. Of course, now I had another reason to be nervous. Lauren. What if she tried to seduce me while on tour? If Virginia says yes tonight, what will she think about Lauren going on your with us? I mean, Lauren and us will have to be together almost all the time. I hope Virginia doesn't think anything is going on with us.

And of course, my thoughts were interrupted. They always were. There was a knock on the bathroom door and then Liam yelled to let me know that the car I was going to be driving for the night was ready. I opened the door, took the keys from his hand, and ran back to the entertainment room. "Last time, I promise. Do I look alright? No stains, my shirt is tucked in, is my zipper up?!"

"YOU LOOK FINE!" all the boys chorused, assuring me that I was ready to leave. I would be picking Virginia up from her house. That was it. I hopped in the car and started towards her flat.

Thirty minutes later, I was standing in front of her apartment door, waiting for it to swing open. Honestly, my main concern was 'What if my jeans are skinnier than hers?' . El oh el. I crack myself up.

She opened the door and I was absolutely speechless. Virginia stood there with a blue dress with sequins on the top. Damn she looked good.

She cleared her throat and looked down at her feet with a shy look on her face. "Are you ready?" I asked, barely able to hide my attraction to her.

"Uh yeah. Just hold on a minute, I need to grab something really quick. I'll meet you outside in five minutes?"

"Sure. Ill be waiting right outside."

I walked outside and waited for her. I hope she grabs a jacket, it's a bit chilly out here. People walk past and give me weird glares, but I mean, I'm Harry Styles. I'm used to getting those stares.

Almost ten minutes later and Virginia finally made her way outside. I opened the car door for her and drove off to our first destination. Tonight, I would be taking Virginia to a moonlit picnic on the riverside. After the picnic, we would go to the pet store.

I parked in a random run-down parking lot next to the river and announced that we were here. "An old pharmacy? I thought we were going to the movies to see that new film about the spiders?"

"Babe, I wanted to surprise you. You're gonna love this." I assured her.

I opened the trunk of the car and pulled out the blanket and picnic basket I had stashed in there. "You ready my lady?"

"Did you plan this all? Harry, you didn't have to do all this!" She said as I guided her down to the riverbank. I grabbed her hand and added, "I know I didn't have to. But I wanted to. You're really special Virginia." A slight blush spread across her cheeks.

"Thanks Harry. You're so sweet." She said with a wide smile spreading.

"Here we are." I said as I set up our picnic.

An hour later, we had finished our picnic and were now just gazing up at the stars while Virginia was laying in my arms.

"Virginia?"

"Yeah Harry?"

"I really like you."

"I really like you too Harry."

"No, I mean, I REALLY like you. I can never stop thinking about you. When I wake up, the first thing i think about is you. When I go to sleep at night, the last thing I think about is you. You really are beautiful and fantastic. Will you be my girlfriend?" I asked her, nervous as hell.
