Ruby had already gotten out of the door by the time she heard that, rushing back to the training grounds. The team fell silent, but had decided not to interfere.
Ruby ran towards the training grounds, going through a surge of emotions as she did so.
12:50 PM, Beacon Training Grounds
Emiya was relaxed on a bench. His eyes closed, he was deep in thought, until he felt the presence of someone nearby. Opening his eyes, he sees Rose, standing up.
"Ruby, I told you that we'd continue tomorrow. You tired me out with that cat and mouse chase ga--" And suddenly, Emiya felt a slap to his face. He didn't even flinch, almost as if he had expected it.
"Why didn't you tell me? That you killed those people..."
Emiya immediately knew what she was referring to and gave up trying to hide it. "It was for the better that you didn't know of it and my occupation. I am an assassin. A hitman." His expression had once more turned into a blank one. He sat back down, closing his eyes. "Ironwood lied to your face, and with good reason. If any of your team knew about it, it would have sent you all running fueled by panic."
"I must be honest with you. Your dreams of saving the world... they are futile. I thought I could save the world too, all on my own. I've had it shattered multiple times."
He put his hand out for her to grab. "I don't want you to learn from my morality, I want you to learn from my skills and mistakes so that you wouldn't end up like me." Ruby was almost about to grab his hand, but backed away at the last moment. She felt betrayed. And so, she ran away, deciding to go to Vale for some fresh air.
Emiya sat there alone. He had no worries in terms of being caught, knowing Ironwood would most help him out if he ever got into trouble, but his relationship with Rose was certainly another thing.
1:05 PM, Streets of Vale
She walked through the streets, looking around at shops and other people minding their own business. Though she felt betrayed, she didn't know if she would actually report him to the police. She was getting deep into her thought, not looking at where she was going, until she bumped into a priest. "Ouch, sorry, sorry!"
"Think nothing of it." Let out the priest. He put his hand out for her to grab, and she did so, standing up. "I can tell by your expression, you are in despair. What disturbs you, young one?"
"Nothing, just that my teacher isn't... exactly who I thought he was." She started walking, the priest walked besides her. She didn't mind as she needed someone to comfort her.
"What has he done to upset you?"
"He's a sinner. He has killed people. I don't know if I should report him to the authorities or not. He told me he was an assassin."
The priest smirked. "An assassin...?" He had been reminded of a certain someone. He wrapped his hand around Ruby's shoulder. "Perhaps you should allow me to put in a good word with him. Do not worry, I can protect myself. What is your name, young one?"
"Ruby. Ruby Rose."
"Ah, so you are the one who got into the academy early. You must be quite talented at fighting to do that."
They kept walking together for a while. Ruby had started to feel better, her naivety unfortunately getting the better of her. "What is your name sir?"
"Kirei Kotomine. You can call me father Kirei if you'd like."
