"So, Sariah, tell us a little more about yourself." I glanced around at the four burly men sitting in front of me- one of whom is the man I met at the window. They introduced themselves but I don't even remember their names as my nervousness was busy eating away at my sanity.
"Uh- well, um, I'm 22, I just graduated from St. Lawrence University, and I love to write." I said truthfully.
"We meant something we don't already know, Ms. Johanesen. We can see all that you've said on your resume." Another one of the burly men said. I think his name is Richard or Rickon... I'm not sure.
"Oh, right." I said my cheeks glowing red from embarrassment. I can't count how many times I've been embarrassed today.
"Well, what exactly do you want to know about me?" I asked. Richard or Rickon looked perplexed by my question and I swallowed a lump in my throat. "I just mean that... I, um-"
"Sariah, take a deep breath." The man from earlier said. I remember him to be Mr. Philemon "Get comfortable. We just want to get to know you."
"Ok." I said timidly.
"Why do you want to work here Sariah?" he asked me.
"Mr. Philemon, working here has always been my dream. From I stepped in the lecture hall for accounting 101 class, I knew-"
"-that this would be the place for me. Yes Ms. Johanesen, we've heard it all before. Maybe 20 times since morning. If you have nothing new and insightful to bring to the table, there's the door." Richard or Rickon said.
"Go easy Richard." Titus said. Ha! So, it is Richard! "You'll scare her away and you won't know if we're losing a valuable team member."
"Don't be cliché and we'll give you the time of day." Richard said to me rather aggressively.
That's just rude and I kind of get that hearing the same thing twenty times in the same day gets annoying fast but damn old man, don't take all your frustration out on me.
"Maybe you should've given me time to prepare." I shot back without even realising. My eyes widened when I saw their stunned reactions. Shit, I honestly hadn't meant to say that but I'm blaming it on my nervousness. As I said, it stays eating out my brain.
"You have a problem with that?" the man beside Mr. Philemon said.
"Well, yes. Simply because I had no time to prepare and what I am mustering right now, you have a problem with. Pick a struggle..."
"It wouldn't be you. What I mean is, if we gave you time to prepare, it'd be a fixed up, perfect version of you. We do not want that here." Richard said.
"Well don't expect a perfect response from me." I said. They all looked stunned again.
"You have a problem with policy, why should we take you here?"
