"How were today's interview proceedings?" Mr. Piffler asked the members of the executive body. We're all gathered in the main meeting room, discussing what happened yesterday. Yesterday was The Piffler's Enterprise annual hiring day where only on that stipulated day a rapid succession of interviews would be conducted followed by hirings.
"We had many competitive candidates but rest assured, we hired two of the best for the Gaming Design department." Mr. Sicily, the Gaming Design Manager said.
Mr. Piffler nodded. "Tech?"
"Yes sir, we hired ten individuals. This year's applicant pool was highly competitive as we had multiple graduates from prestigious universities coming in for interviews. However, after careful consideration, my team decided only a few of these individuals were deserving of the positions. They have proven to be well-rounded and have performed exceptionally academically and otherwise. We also consider their potential to continue doing so, given the rigour of work here at TPE. They checked out. They can add to the technological evolution of our company. We obviously have a record of going overboard in the hiring process, but this year especially, it was hard to choose from the list of competent individuals."
Mr. Schemer says that every year but he's never been penalised for his trigger-hiring because his department always produces an exceptional standard of work.
"Well said Mr. Schemer, I trust your judgement. I hope your decision is what's best for the company." Mr. Piffler said.
"Thank you sir." Mr. Schemer replied.
"Finance?" Mr. Piffler asked
"Sir, we actually did not hire anyone today." Mr. Porter from the Accounting/Finance department said.
Mr. Piffler seemed frustrated with his response.
"We only had a few applicants that might've deserved consideration but Mr. Richard Teller had a problem with every single one of them." Mr. Porter continued.
"Is that so Mr. Richard Teller?" Mr. Piffler said sternly.
"Yes sir. I admit, many candidates were qualified but none met the requirements of our business and none has any attributes that we look for at Piffler." Mr. Teller said.
"And what are those attributes Mr. Teller?"
"Global-mindedness, fervour, a well-rounded nature-"
"What say you, Mr. Philemon?" Mr. Philemon interjected, effectively cutting off Mr. Teller. At this, he sat with a scowl that screamed hatred and displeasure.
"Well sir, there were three individuals I would've hired if it were up to only me. Kevin Dawkins, a high-qualified individual, graduated from Charlton's Accounting College with a 3.7 GPA. After carefully listening to his story, interacting with him personally and hearing his explanation of his work-life balance, I'd believe he would fit perfectly and adjust to our work's rigour in no time. He has a strong mindset, and he seems extremely flexible." Mr. Philemon said.
"Next would be Sariah Johanesen. She graduated from St. Lawrence University with a 3.94 GPA, and normally our hiring team looks beyond GPA for individuals with such high scores but hearing her speak, there was no doubt in my mind that she would be a valuable asset to our company. Unlike the rest of my team, I had an encounter with Sariah before her interview. I assessed her and was actually looking forward to hiring her. I believe she needs training but displayed fervour and obvious well-roundedness in the interview. Aside from her qualifications, I'd say she has a bold personality that would do Piffler justice. She is ready to voice her opinion, and I think Piffler needs an individual who is outspoken every now and again. Given the lack of females in our department, I'd say she's a pretty good addition."
