One - Wrath

Sonic has been gone for a while now, and Tails is starting to get worried. "Hey Knuckles?" Tails was on Angel Island with Knuckles, who was sitting on the Master Emerald. Knuckles looked over at Tails.

"Where do you think Sonic went?" Tails asked.

"Eh, he's just been running around Green Hill, like he does every morning." Knuckles responded.

"But its been like- two hours." Tails felt as if something was off.

"Has it?" Knuckles asked. The echidna had never really understood time, he just knew an hour was long.

Tails nodded. He stood up from his spot on the steps that led up to the Master Emerald's platform.

"Maybe he's in trouble..." Tails murmured.

"Relax, he's fine. I just know it." Knuckles said, trying to reassure the two-tailed fox.

"Alright. I believe you. I'm gonna go find him, though. I want to ask him something." Tails starts flying away.

Knuckles waves to him goodbye, and Tails waves back.

Tails comes to a stop at Green Hill. Despite its normal look, something feels off. The fox starts calling out to Sonic, but gets nothing back. Tails even flies up to get a better look, seeing if he could spot Sonic, even though he most likely knows he couldn't.

Something caught his attention. Tails looked over to his right, and saw that a small portion on Green Hill was yellow and black, not the usual green.

There was a fire.

Tails flew over to that section and landed on the charred grass. "What happened here..?" He asked. "This wasn't here last night... Me and Sonic were around this area fighting Eggman. Could he have caused the fire?" Tails mumbled to himself.

But, it didnt feel right. Tails just shook it off.

If this fire was here this morning, when Sonic could've been caught in it. I need to find him. Tails told himself, taking off in a direction where he thinks Sonic might have gone.

The fox starts whipping around trees, searching ever nook and cranny for Sonic. He steps on something, and it squishes under him. Tails stops, and looks at what he had stepped on.

His shoes has blood on them. He had stepped on a dead animal.

"Wh-What...?" Tails' voice quavers. "I need to find Sonic!"

It was Tails' first time ever seeing a dead animal, and he never wanted to see anything like it again.

Tails couldn't help but worry if the same fate could happen to his best friend.

There was something on the corpse that Tails couldn't help but notice, however.

It had a line down its stomach, like a tally mark. It could've just been the fatal blow, but something told Tails that wasn't the case.

It was like whoever hunter and murdered that animal marked it as its first victim. And if that's only the first victim, then that means there's more death to follow.

But who could've done it?

Tails was so lost in his thoughts that he didnt realize that he was about to run into Sonic, who had his back turned to Tails.

Tails managed to slow down enough to just lightly bump into Sonic, which made him jump.

"Sorry Sonic-!" Tails exclaimed, backing up.

Sonic looked at Tails, like he was analyzing him.

"Oh, it's fine buddy!" Sonic smiled.
