Once they had finished eating she was able to meet up with Elizabeth as they made their way down to the mission briefing. Upon entering the room she caught sight of her synthetic friend, meeting their eyes before giving him a wave, he showed a smile as he headed her way, soon giving her guidance towards her seat.
She sat next to her brother, her friend's boyfriend following close behind as he took the open seat beside her, the one she was hoping Elizabeth would've taken seeing as David sat elsewhere.
"So, what's up with you and the robot?" he questioned leaning a bit closer to her.
"What?"
"You waved at him."
"Yeah.. and?" she asked, raising her brows.
"It's not human, not your friend... So why treat it like one?" he questioned as she took in a deep breath of pure annoyance, "Because Charles... I clearly have something you lack, decency."
He smirked at that before turning his attention back to Elizabeth who seemed oblivious to her boyfriend's douche-like tendencies, the girl honestly couldn't understand what she saw in him. But then again, he had his moments, but so did everyone else.
When her hues began to scan the room she caught sight of David and it seemed as though he had overheard their conversation. Before she could react in any way, Miss Vickers entered the room breaking any conversations happening by properly introducing herself.
Already Lorelai couldn't stand her, she folded her arms over her chest before leaning back into her seat, swinging one of her legs over the other, she was trying her best to get comfortable in the cheap plastic chairs that they had provided. Soon the gymnasium was filled with a holographic screen, she focused her vision on it as it showed an extremely old man, an old man that was presumed dead by the sound of it. She sighed softly to herself which caught the attention of the lovely Miss Vickers, she chose to ignore her gaze and focus her own elsewhere... Soon her eyes wandered over to David who turned his attention over to her within a matter of seconds, only for a brief moment before his attention was drawn back to the screen at the simple mention of his name. But what had made her own attention to be focused back onto the screen was when the man spoke of him not having a soul... something about that didn't sit right with her and when she took a look at David... she could tell he felt the same way by the sudden change of his facial expression.
When the floor was taken over by Charlie and Elizabeth, she couldn't help but let her mind wander...
What was David's motive for helping her?
Had he been ordered too?
But her brother mentioned earlier that he hadn't been and that he did it on his own... but why?
Why would he do that?
She wasn't sure if he felt emotions or not, she knew that he understood them but being able to feel them was a whole nother story.
Her eyes made their way back over to him and sure enough, he glanced over.
Was he aware of her thoughts, her emotions?
He was able to detect her lie earlier...
Could he read minds?
Her thoughts were quickly interrupted at the simple sound of the Irish man's voice behind her, drawing her attention back to reality.
"So you're saying we're here because of a map... a map that you two kids found in a cave, is that right?"
"Not a map... an invitation." Elizabeth proceeded to speak to prove her ground further, which of course the Irish fellow had something to say about... but then her brother decided it was a good time to speak his opinions.
"Okay, so, uh, do you have anything to back that up?" he questioned, "I-I mean look... if you're willing to discount three centuries of Darwinism- that's... whoo! But how do you know? Hmm?"
Lorelai placed her hand over her face as if to hide the fact that they were related.
She didn't necessarily disagree with him, but it was the way he approached the subject that made her physically cringe.
"I don't, but it's what I choose to believe."
And with that, the room went silent until someone started to clap assuming they were finished and the rest followed.
She soon found herself in the hallway, catching up to Elizabeth, "Hey- good job back there." she spoke as the other gave a smile, "Really?"
"Yeah, Charlie on the other hand..." she muttered with the simple roll of her eyes.
"Uhm, I heard that."
"You were supposed to-" she started but was interrupted by a familiar voice, one that sent a soft chill down her spine.
"Doctors, Lore." David began, causing them to pause in their steps.
"Miss Vickers would like to have a quick word before the adventure begins." he continued by opening the door for them but as Lorelai began to follow inside he stood in her way as if to block her from entering.
"Uhm, David- you're kind of in my way." she started to speak, seeing as the door began to close behind him she tried to move past but he was quick to block her path again, this time placing a gentle hand against her waist.
"I suggest... you don't do that."
