Alone in the Woods

3rd Person

Ruby is sitting on a suitcase looking at the moon through a window while snow drizzles outside. She checks on Blake, Weiss, Yang and all the kids who are huddled by the fire. Maria is in an armchair reading a book. Oscar is pacing back and forth. Ruby then walks toward Qrow. Qrow is sitting in a chair with his propped up on a dresser.

Qrow: The storm is finally letting up. We should be able to leave in the morning.

Ruby: That's good.

Qrow: No..... I don't have a good feeling about this place. Especially with me here.

Ruby looked down and saw Qrow hand hovering near a open wine bottle, then looks back at him.

Ruby: Are you... okay?

Qrow: *scoffs* Sure. Tell everyone to get some sleep. I'll wake you just before sunrise.

Ruby walks away as Qrow takes another swig from the wine bottle. Ruby pauses and looks back at him before narrowing her eyes downward.

Back in the other room, the fire continues to burn.

Ruby: Hey guys, Qrow said to get some sleep. We're leaving early tomorrow.

Blake: Thank goodness.

Weiss cuddles her two boys close to her under her blanket on the couch. Blake eagerly cuddles with Sludge in an armchair. Yang and Slag share a blanket but don't stay too close together, much to Yang's sadness. Maria ghen hops off her chair and into another comfy armchair and states.

Maria: The last thing you'll catch me doing is letting some kid tell me what to do. *mimicking* "Go to bed!" *scoffs*

Grimlock: *warning growl*

Ruby: Grim.

Grimlock: *to Maria* Treat mom with more respect.

Ruby rolls her eyes and smiles, then herds Grimlock to a laid out blanket and then pulls another blanket over both of them.

Ruby: Thanks for stepping up, when we were all unsure and angry.

Grimlock: Mmhmm.

Ruby: *kisses Grimlock's forhead* Sweet dreams, Dino King.

The pair fall asleep along with everyone else unaware that something is working against them in a unusual but dangerous way.

Timeskip Next Morning

Morning light peeks through the curtains, the fire went out late in the night. Team RWBY, the Dinokids and Oscar are scatted around the room in front of the fireplace. Qrow is then seen asleep in his chair with two empty bottles of wine on the floor and one unfinished one in his hand. He loses grip an drops the bottle on the floor, the clatter startles Grimlock awake.

Grimlock: *snorts as he sits up* *looks around then yawns* Morning. Guess we overslept.

Grimlock feeling energized stands and opens curtains, this cause Weiss to whine in her sleep.

Weiss: Shut the window.

Grimlock then walks over to Qrow and sees the multitude of wine bottles, Ruby told Grimlock about Qrow problems with alcohol, seeing this scene in front of him almost enrages Grimlock, so he stomps on one of the bottles causing Qrow to jolt awake.

Qrow: What?

Grimlock: We overslept stupid! Get up!

Qrow stretches as Grimlock walks away, Grimlock stops, looks back and says.

Grimlock: You know, Mom and Auntie Yang are around if you need to talk.

Qrow: Let's just get outta here.
