Katie spoke to Kevin almost everyday and Natasha tried to discourage her. Katie, however, wouldn't listen. At times she wouldn't talk to him because she felt that she wasn't pretty enough but then he made her day amazing just by saying hi so she didn't find much harm in just talking.

Kevin on the other hand found it awkward to talk to her always. He didn't know how to place this in front of her. He texted her during lunch. This text put her off. Natasha didn't like seeing her friend upset.

"What's wrong Katie?" she asked.

Katie showed the text to her. It said, "Hey Katherine. I'm sorry but I can't always talk to you. Not to seem rude or anything, but you're not even my friend. You're great to talk to but you just aren't a friend. Sorry. -Kevin"

Natasha knew that her friend was broken. She tried consoling her but it didn't help much. Katie restrained herself from speaking to Kevin. She hadn't spoken to him for months. After school she avoided the bus and took the longer way back home to avoid Kevin. Kevin didn't know that the text upsetted Katie. The next day at Math class, he sat beside Katie.

"Hey Katherine. Haven't spoken in long eh?" he said shrugging his shoulders.

"Hi Kevin.." said Katie, "Indeed we haven't."

"Yes. So if you don't have plans, do you want to have lunch together?"

Katie hesitated. She didn't know what to do. She collected herself and said, " I'd love that Kevin, but I had plans with Natasha. Some other time perhaps." She walked off after saying this.

Kevin tried his best to talk to Katie and Katie spoke to him the least as she could. In their annual school Thanksgiving, Kevin had given a speech. After the function was over he came over to Katie and said, "How was it? Did I do good?" Katie didn't say a word and left. On her way she realized she was mean so she took out her phone and texted him.."I'm sorry I left so abruptly. You did well. Your voice was amazing. :) "
